Hey there people, My name is danny and im 15. I live in beverly hills. Since im so young it is so hard for me to find people my age into my music. I need some guidance and would like to start a synthpop duo or trio if possible. I can do keyboard and vocals but not drums. Music is my life and will be my life forever. Music is my passion. I have to go, If youd like to email me please do so. blazin247@bolt.com thanx alot.

hi danny. you probably won't find the results you are looking for by posting a message here... have you written any songs?? i remember back when i started out, i was 13 years old and i felt exactly like you're feeling right now! since i was only 13 and just getting started, i decided to buy a 4 track and make everything myself... to be honest you with you, i wasn't very good at all. i had a casio keyboard, an SK-1 and i would sit there and sample ministry guitar riffs and play them back over a cheesey drumbeat. not much has changed since then. hahahha.
anyways, your best bet would be to buy one of those teach-you-music MIDI controller keyboards (I think Yamaha makes some nice ones) from your local Guitar Center, buy Fruityloops (www.fruityloops.com) or some other sequencing program, a simple music theory reference guide, a cheap $20 microphone, and then experiment for awhile til you can get some songs finished. after that, write up some vocals and start singing and singin and singin... after you feel you are comfortable enough with your songs, make some demo cds and hand them out to your friends, eventually youll find someone who has similiar music taste that will work with you. another thing you could do is hang out at the local music venues for teens and see what other people in your area are doing. even if it's a different style than synthpop, these other musicians should be able to give you some tips and may be able to work on a project with you when they arent busy in their own bands...
good luck!!

Hi Danny,
All the above are good suggestions. I've been doing some synthpop demos myself with just a Fostex 4 track, an old 80's drum machine and Yamaha DX-21 synth. The tracks are very minimalist, but that's the way I like them to sound. Always remember to please your own ears first. Don't worry about other people right now. That way your music will be YOURS.
Good luck!
