I hope that you realize what you just set yourself up for.

No, for the record I don't hate dM. I love them. I just know that you will probably get inundated with posts.

I don't hate them but I do feel that when they lost Alan Wilder, a large portion of their talent went with them. Gee. Haven't I already said this in this thread before. No wait, that was a different thread about Depeche Mode that only so closely resembles this one. Sorry.

There is always a post like this. Usually once a month or so. I must say that I found it odd that you posted inquiries about who hates Depeche Mode when you have them littered all over your post. Are you on some sort of DM Goon squad, sent here to take names so that you can visit us later and bust us in the shins with a lead pipe?

Well sadly conditions and climates on here dont permit for anyone to say they dislike DM. Im sure everyone to some extent likes DM, but its almost an absolute it seems. Im not afraid to say that DM post Violator does nothing from me. Theyve come to arenas 3 times to my area in the last decade and I never once felt the urge to go. I find it more special to promote and be into slightly mor eunderground bands. Saying you like DM on here is like saying 'I like food'! It's like, yeah...ok...that's cool...but what else?

Depeche Mode is super mainstream, so to me hearing someone in real life mention them isnt as exciting(to me) as when they mention liking a synthpop related band slightly more bewlow the radar.

I dislike DM, well they're new material with a passion...It's like I said before, DM haven't been DM since Alan left the band...

People can say what they want to, and flame me all you want, I know it's in the mail, but as much as you'd all like to deny it, DM is going down the tubes album by album at this pace...Sorry I call em' how I see em'...I'm a die-hard old school DM fan, thats about it now...

Hey...doesn't this belong in the DM Forum? Isn't that the reason why a DM forum was created?
...and for the record....
I don't hate DM. I do think by losing Alan they lost a fantastic programmer, but at the same time, I really enjoy the later albums,...even more so then some of their earlier work.
*gasp!* did I just say that out loud?
I must be getting old. :)

I think it's about time somebody said something about Andy clapping.

Any takers?

I don't hate DM at all ... altho like alot of people, I didn't like anything after Songs of Faith and Devotion ...

Their high points were the albums "Black Celebration" and "Violator", truly the two best DM albums ever made. And being a huge Vince Clarke fan, I was very keen on "Speak and Spell".

I would maybe agree that their best days are behind them ... but then it's time for others (De/Vision, Mesh, B! Machine, Wolfsheim, etc.) to take their place and carry on in the tradition, perhaps. Who knows ...

I can't argue there! Black Celebration and Violator are pretty much the DM Desert Island Discs IMHO.

Oddly enough, a lot of newer bands seem to thrive off of being virtual tribute bands...just with different names.

Screw Alan, yeahh scrw that egotistical vodka drinking, leather jacket wearing chap... BIGOD player is not even from Basildon l.o.l, therefore he's not an OG, know what I mean:).... It's all about floof head former snaggle tooth Martin Gore babe, yeahhh he got me into synthpop, he's the real talent, the nucleus, the songwriter, the visionare, the flarie, the balls behind that band called DM or should I call it THE CHURCH OF DM....

I cant wait for that solo project to come out...

I donīt dislike DM, but I donīt like them very much either.
My favourite album with them is one from the 80īs; Black Celebration, but I do think that their newer material is better than the old.
They have been a big influence to many many bands, but still I donīt see them as something special, they are not even close to be one of my favourite bands. They are ok and has made some good stuff. thatīs all.

Love their older stuff, didn't care for exciter, not rhythmic enough, if that makes sense. Isn't that usually the case, we always seem to love the older stuff from these groups, like the cure, erasure, the smiths, etc, lol. ;)

I hate Exciter! Is that close enough? The also dislike the previous 2-3 albums (Post Violator), but they at least had a few good songs in between the filler stuf. Its a shame they (DM) feel they have to re-invent themselves with their newer cds! They have lost a lot of their melody and toe tapping rhythm that made their earlier stuff so great!
