Lord of the Rings and Synthpop?

Look what I just received:

I went to the site and it's the "official" release party for the movie.

Kinda cool that one of our own is playing at a high profile event in NYC!!!!!! though I don't really see the connectiion between LOTR and synthpop... especially the music of NCS.

Oh well, who cares.... any way we can spread the love ay?

Thanks for the heads up on this.... gonna try to make this event.

Synthpop and Ebm has long been associated with the goth movement, whether it be the cute bubbly stuff (like freezepop) or the dark depressing stuff of Covenant etc.... Since LOTR has many a cloak and dagger and other assorted witchy stuff, I can see the association here with one of the better up and coming synth acts.

Ohh here's an interesting tidbit for those of you who follow both synthpop and the J.R.R. Tolkien books:

"Basic" by Avantgarde ... the erasureized synthpop band from Sweden, released way back in 1997. At least two songs on this release feature lyrics inspired by The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy (these books also get a mention in the liner notes).

Definitely NOT synthpop, but I thought there was a goth band of sorts called Crack of Doom, which if I recall correctly, was a geographic locale in the trilogy....

...then again it can mean something *entirely* different!

Not to take away from New Clear Sky or this event...but this is just a release party in new york organized by that group. It isn't like the official premiere party or anything huge like the movies special premiere event on the 5th in NYC. I don't even know what they mean by "official".
