Heres a different ? that is quite unique!!! Martin plays an accordian in the video 'behind the wheel'. I've always considered accordian playing was for geeks, nerds, or feebs. Now we all know that Martin is not any of the above. So how come Martin can play an instrument that is considered nerdy and still make it seem so very cool? btw....isn't he like yodeling,:o he is turned sideways with his mouth opened in the vid too!!! Hey if anybody can check this vid out, lets compare notes. Lets break out this video and get comments and reviews...I would really like to know, is accordian playing associated with nerds?

Mart plays the accordian in the Never Let Me Down Again video, as well as Behind the Wheel. I was watching The Videos '86>98 last week and they cut out the best part of the video. If you have Strange, you will get to see Dave's shoes come to life and start walking during the Aggro part of the song. I love it when the nerdy guy with the umbrella gets freaked out by the shoes and starts to run. My favorite part is when the cool club guy puts the shoes on and starts to dance really well. It reminds me of Saturday Night Fever. I just cannot believe that they cut all that out on the '86>'98 release. I just hope they put that part back when they release the dvd updated version this week.
Did you also notice that they changed the version of the song for Behind the Wheel on the videos '86>'98? It's *not* the album version from Music for the Masses, or the version that's on Strange, but the version that's on the Singles '86-'98. They should have just left it alone. Sigh!
I have been on a Music for the Masses kick for a week now. Listening to those songs brings back such wonderful memories. They all look soooo gorgeous in those videos. :D I have sunglasses like Dave wears in that video. Martin wears them too in Personal Jesus. :D :)
If you don't have Strange or Strange Too, get them! The Videos '86>'98 are good, but they don't have all the great videos.
Great topic, Velvet. :)

Oh thank you Steph!! Guess what?..Just today I was listening to Music for the Masses too!!! And it brought back such fond memories of the Mode Men!!! :DYep, I used to have glasses like that of Martin and Dave, but for the life of me I've must have misplaced them...bummer!!! Yes, the new vid is coming out today in fact in the US, and I will certainly buy it for my ever increasng DM stash!! I don't have Strange or Strange Two yet, but give me time, okay? Oh btw, ....when I was listening to Music for the Masses,(me and you have the same brain waves lately about 'music for the masses')..... I thought that Martin was seen playing the accordian in Never Let me Down I wasn't for sure, but now since you mentioned it heck:nod: yes he was!!!
But wait Steph, you never gave me your answer to the question....IS ACCRODIAN PLAYING ASSOCIATED WITH GEEKS, FEEBS, NERDS? and.....WHY IN THE PAST HAVE ACCORDIAN PLAYING BEEN LINKED TO GEEK, FEEBS, NERDS?

I always thought accordian playing was associated with geeks, but then I saw Martin playing it and he is NOT a geek. I have rethought that! :)
When you get Strange and Strange Too, get them from eBay or half.com. You can get a great deal. You will flip when you see the full NLMDA video. It's fantastic! I think you will also love Halo on Strange Too. It's soo cute! Martin is in clown makeup and Dave's the World's Strongest Man. It's adorable!!!!

Oh yes I've seen the vid that Martin is dressed up as a clown, not one of my fav getups of Martin!! I guess I'm so used to seeing him dressed up in his gender-bender outfits that anything else is 'obscure' ;) so to speak!! And to answer my own question, I will certainly look at accordian playing  in a different perspective from now on too!!! Have you bought the new singles vid?, is that the one you're talking about in this post?...btw.....I thought buying stuff from e-bay was risky..you know its rather expensive...I usually buy my vids from Barnes&Noble Books...its a lot safer too,,,:p your credit card number is just a broardcast for swindlers and such....THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT STEPH..LOL:D

I don't have the updated Videos '86-'98. I only have the one that came out a few years ago. I plan to get the dvd this weekend. I also have to get a new dvd player since mine shorted out. :(
As for eBay, I always pay via BidPay, which sends out a money order. Half.com also has the video and dM merchandise. You have to pay via credit card and mine are all maxed out from the tour last year.

OMG...OMG....:oI am so sorry to have come across as this Bagherra!...please forgive me!!! I was just trying to get in my brain what a lot of people associate accordian playing as a true sign to geekdom, and that since Martin plays the accordian, it can't EVER be considered geekdom AGAIN. Yes, Martin is as cool as you can get!!!!....BTW.:woohoo:..WELCOME TO EGN!!! AND YOU ADORE DPECEHE MODE TOO, HEEEEEYYYY STEPH...we have another LIVE ONE FOR DEPECHE MODE!!!:loco:..Where have you been hiding yourself?.....GLAD TO HAVE MET YET ANOTHER MODER!!!:D

welcome Bagheraa it seems many old skool DM fans are here at this site. half my life is 17 years and I've been a fan 19 years so thats more than half my life. I have to say its weird. Now you have people who have kids in high school who are Dm fans b/c of their parents. also whoever would have thought in the year 2002 I would still be this into DM and they are still going, etc. whoever would have thought that 19 years ago, its cool.

Honestly, I like Dave most, his voice. And the only thing that I can be proud of is a set of Cd's with remixes on it"Singles13-18" And gigs of mp3s on my computer. Well, I couldn't wait till those singles+ (dvd)came out, so I bought the previous one:)(apart from one night in Paris) No, I can't say my parents are in dm very much, they are more in classic rock -> Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple e.t.c. but what they do is really appreciate it:))) And, Velvet, what if you could chose one song to listen for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sorry, I can't answer your question, Bagheraa, that is against the rules here at EGN, its called cross-posting I think...:goofball:...and we can get into a lot of trouble...hey, why not start a new post by asking that very same question?....I'm sure a lot of us Moders would appreciate it immensely...go on, try it, okay!!!....so you like Dave?...well thats okay, a lot of people do, both men and women....Dave is very creative when hes singing....you know, with those talking hips of his!!!....ooopppp...don't want to stir up trouble here at EGN...........Dave is like a lighted match.....HE CAN IGNITE YOU AND PUT YOUR BODY IN FLAMES!!!:D
And to you Paradoxxx.....please forgive me if I don't know ALL the sound effects on the DM tracks....heck, I be soooooo busy listening to Martin singing that I forget EVERYTHING ELSE...HAHAHAHA!!!...he has that effect on women you know!!!;)
