Hey hey hey!
I keep hearing good things about Spanish synthpoppers OBK. Yet, I have still to hear even a second of their music.
Anyone who can provide me with concentrated info on them? Best albums, style of sound etc.
They have eluded me since there is no good way to get their stuff here in Sweden.
I have a feeling I'm missing out...if so, tell me!!! :)

Well my friend you came to the right place because I have declared myself to be one of the officionados of OBK info on EGN :)
Just a bit of background info on them...OBK ARE Jordi Sanchez (lead vocals) and Miguel Arjona (keys/synths)...They started out in 1988, and put out their first 12" Historias De Amor in 1989...Soon after they released their debut album, and news of their music spread everywhere throughout Europe and South America and they have been going every since...They have put out five proper studio albums, and a limited edition release of some of their demos, remixes, b-sides, and completely unreleased songs...
I always tell people, if you like Depeche Mode, Celebrate The Nun, Erasure, Cause & Effect, Seven Red Seven, Cetu Javu then you'll love OBK...They definately embody the classic synthpop duo image, and they put out great dance tracks and solid ballads...The funny thing about them that not a lot of people know is that Jordi writes all of the music, yet he sings lead, and Miguel writes all of the lyrics yet he plays the music...
Heres their album discography:
llamalo Sueno
Momentos De Fe
Trilogia
Donde El Corazon Nos lleve
The Singles 91/98
The Videos 91/98 VHS
Antropop
Extrapop (limited edition)
Keep in mind my friend who runs their fan club in Spain assures me that their new album Babylon is coming together great, and all is still on track for an early 2003 release :)
I hope this can give you some insight on their material...All of their albums can be ordered through www.towerrecords.com and all are still in print with the exception of Extrapop...However the ADD site has it listed in their inventory catalog...
HAPPY LISTENING!!!

Oh man...Dan is gonna kill me for saying this but....
I must've gotten their weakest album, since I wasn't really impressed. I only have "Antropop". Is it the weakest one from their discography? ...and if so, which one should I buy to make up for it? Keep in mind I'm a big fan of Moenia, Cetu Javu, etc etc.

"Trilogia" 3rd album is probably the most electronic and I think their best works til now in my opnion then "Momentos de Fe" is another fav a classic but more mellow. If you like the moenia modern sound you should pick up "trilogia" noirtech :-)

I have to agree with Charles on this one, thanks to his advice a long while back, I picked up Trilogia, the best OBK album track for track easily...
See not many people know that...When I first met him wow almost two years ago now, I had barely picked up the Singles collection, and he got me into the band...Now I'm an OBK addict!!!THANKS CHARLES!!! :D

I agree with you, the best album is 'Trilogia', also 'Momentos De Fe' is very good too and the De/Vision cover rocks. I know this band from their first record and have seen live at least 15 times. Last time I found them was in a Melotron gig in Barcelona after the 'Extrapop' release. They say the new album will be prepared soon.
