hi
just wondering what other bands mesh could be compared to?sorry to ask this question but i have never heard what they sound like.in england the only synth pop music being played is either psb, soft cell etc or the electro movement ie,adult, miss kitten, fischerspooner, ladytron etc.

mesh are from Bristol. How come you don't recomment Fragile or The Point at which it falls apart, Joel?? I personally think Who watches over me? is a rather weak album, but then, I like the tougher stuff so Fragile is just right for me...

I think mesh has a unique sound unlike other synth bands.

Yes, Mesh is a very special band.
They have a sound of their own, itīs kinda agressive synthpop.
I would recommend you to listen to In this place forever, their best album according to me.

I recommend all of their CD's but a good starting place would be "Fragmente 2" which is the new 2CD compilation that just came out. It's rather sad to see that Mesh is not getting enough exposure in England.

"Who Watches Over Me?" all the way. Definitely.
I like "In This Place Forever", but that album is a little weak on the songwriting when compared to the other albums, IMO.

No! Don't avoid the other albums!! I love them all! :) Well, Depeche Mode are some of their biggest fans, so...
They just sound great, sometimes rocky, sometimes moody, but the tunes are always wonderful. 'Not prepared' of their before last album just moves me so much! Or the b-side 'Let them crush us' is soooo damn beautiful. Just when you think 'nice', the chorus kicks in and leaves you flabbergasted.
I think that might be a nice description of a lot of their music...
Anyway, hope you like it as much as we do ;)

Just check' them out life and you know what they sound like... they rock!! They do quite a lot of touring so it's not really hard to catch them.

Well it's synthpop, but it's not cheezy so you can actually listen to it while other people are around :)

Mesh are an interesting band that a fearless in their drive to constantly change while setting boundries to maintain a cohesion and consistancy between albums.
If you were to listen to: I Only Wanted To - you'd think they were industrial.
If you were to listen to: Friends Like These - you'd assume they were dance-pop.
If you were to listen to: Four Walls - there are some of my friends that accused me of listening to The Backstreet Boys (which I quickly trounced that by explaining a few things - but I do see their point)
It Scares Me - ala Depeche Mode...
I can go on an on but in the end - you'll see that they are a bit hard to 'lock down' into a genre IMHO>
Amazing band - you'll not be disappointed if you buy a few of their albums.

Mesh is the best modern active band out there not only in synthpop, but in music in my opinion.
I can name one band with sound similar to Mesh, maybe Statemachine have the most close sound, aside still away.
They are like an modern InSoc, lots of samples, strong drums, fantastic melody and modern lyrics.
Mesh to Synthpop is like Linkin Park to rockers... :)
