Anybody heard why Todd is moving A Different Drum? I can't help but be curious. It seems like it would be a really big undertaking.. maybe somebody here would know why.

jetjaguar15 if this is just a rumour or some sick idea of a joke then we'll have you know we will not take this likely. Now where did you hear this from? I find nothing about it on their website.

Ahem.. From ADD's email update on 9/7/02...
"There are a few really cool new releases this week, plus in addition to the handful of weekly email-only offers, I'm announcing a big moving sale which lasts until September 20th! Yes, after many years in the same location, A Different Drum is moving, but before I pack up boxes and boxes of CD's, I thought we'd have a sale to hopefully lessen the number of boxes I have to take with me. Details of the sale will follow the new releases."

I think he's moving to a bigger store or a better location. I could be wrong though.

In his most recent letter he said
Because of the move of A Different Drum's business to a city not too far
away, we'll be closed after this coming Wednesday (Sept. 25th) until the
following Wednesday. I'll need that time to get everything up and running
again. If you place an order during that time, our homepage will still be
working as usual, but I just want be able to ship out your package until
we're open again. So, expect a delay. Hopefully all phone numbers will
be switched smoothly (HA! like a phone company EVER switches numbers
without a snag or two or three or four...) and all communication will
resume normally.
For those interested, the new mailing address will be:
A Different Drum
PO Box 331
Smithfield UT 84335
Looks like he is just moving a little ways away. I would think its probably to save on business costs. Since ADD doesn't have a real store there is no reason to pay high prices to get a really good location.

So, like he's moving, don't normal people do that every day?
:) He probably found a nicer place somewhere and wants to live there (I'm assuming he pretty much works out of his house since he doesn't maintain a storefront)

He bought a house. Good for Todd. :-)
I wish him the best...and can't wait till he's up and running again. Moving can really take up a lot of energy. Especially in the summer.

yep Todd just bought a new house, it is jst up the highway a bit from where he is now. it is great for him and his family. so yes it is to a better location, and it will be hard for him ship the cds etc when his entire store will be in boxes.

Todd was renting a house in the Provo area used for his business and family. I imagine it got too small for his business part after some major growth over the past few years. You have no idea how much room all those cds took up! (I went there once.) Smithfield is a small town and he probably was able to afford a lot more room for his money, especially important since it sounds like he will be buying rather than renting.

That's great news! I hope that he finds nothing but happiness in the new town...

Now we know someone hasn't been reading the other posts that closely. ;)
Looking back up I quoted Todd as saying:

Here is a map from mapquest.com

and here are driving directions from the old town to the new one. :)

Thanks fpr the map, however I have been paying attention to the other posts and there were no other posts that told exactly where Smithfield was. I live in Utah and this is the first time I've heard of the place. The above posts made it sound like it was some suburb to Provo. However it turns out to be a suburb to Logan, quite a distance from where he was previously. This state is full of towns like that.
Thanks for the info though, I do appreciate your help.

At first I thought what you did. That Todd was just moving across town. But now that I actually took the time to plug the addresses into mapquest I find he is moving ~134 miles. Which helps to explain why he will be offline for a few days.
