The following was taken directly from the www.camouflagemusic.com web site, and contains some shocking news concerning the upcoming album "Sensor"...

Sensor Production Journal

Producerteam TOY leaves production process of
SENSOR!

After the finalization of the deal with Polydor / Zeitgeist
we had been able to convince TOY (Dave Clayton,
Kerry Hopwood and Q) for parts of the production of
SENSOR.
This Album is a decisive album to our band. Not only
because partly it will be crucial to our future, but also
because we have been writing songs for SENSOR
since such a long time. Not least we have so much
been looking forward to finally holding a new album in
our hands.

Work started off very promising. Sure there were
discussions every now and then in which direction
one or the other song should go – but always in a
constructive and friendly manner. Some songs felt like
almost being completed and other layouts inspired us
for more.
Approx. 6 weeks ago TOY notified us that they want to
back out of the production of SENSOR - out of reasons
that to date aren't visible or comprehendible to us.
This was a huge shock that made us sad and angry at
the same time. We agreed to let things settle first to
avoid acting in the heat of the moment. That is why we
decided not to publish the information until today. After
this specific way of breaking up the process it was
clear to us that we would not use any of the TOY
produced songs on the album at all.

Of course this causes chaos in scheduling the release
of the album. The songs that have been worked on by
TOY have to be totally reproduced by Gerret and us.
Altogether the above means that SENSOR will be
entirely produced by Gerret Frerichs and/or
Camouflage.

Sure enough we will not let the events distract us from
working on SENSOR. We are even more determined
now!

Best wishes.... Heiko

Durjn. I wonder what happened to make TOY back out of producing the album? I had figured it would be a killer album with tha production team, now what?

I'm pondering the same thing...With TOY being a solid act, I would have figured the album to be up there as album of the year for me...They did an awesome job with Human League, and Camouflage had already made so much progress too...

In fact, we were supposed to be seeing the first single by the end of this month, and as they're opting to scrap the material produced with TOY so far, we probably won't see anything until next year :(

I know I saw this same thread floating around here just a few days ago?

Started by someone else. Cant remember where though.

I guess some things are too good to be true. This is very disappointing. However I would like to know if Camouflage has ever self-produced any albums before, specifically Spice Crackers?

awww crap.....another blow to the genre.....or is it. I personally think Camouflage will do a great job of producing their own stuff....let's not forget the early works! I think this will let them get down to their "grass-roots" so to speak, remember the Bietigheim days boys, and play away!!

Great ... just great. Here I was all excited to finally have a new Camouflage release in my greedy little hands....but no...no release anytime soon. Oh well. Maybe this will turn into something very positive for the band in the long run. Who knows...maybe it will sound better. hhmmm.....I wonder if the TOY versions will ever service somewhere on the net. I bet they will become highly sought after songs.

wow what horrible news. i have to say this is devestating. it is a bit curious as to why TOY backed out. sounds like disagreements as to the sound of the album. Camouflage wanted it to sound one way toy was pushing for another. wonder when the new release date will be.

Bollocks. At least it was good to hear the tracks that TOY had been working on have been reworked, so the album will sound like one piece of work rather than two...

Eeeeeww.....

I wonder myself why TOY backed out of the project. Must be the 'cat-fight' between them.

I was excited on sampling TOY & Camouflage collaboration, I guess..... we'll never gonna see that happening now.

Well nothing to be too sad about.
I was looking forward to their new album, but well now we will get something thatīs 100% Camouflage instead.
(Or are they going to produce their album themselves?)

However, the future will show

Avil, you hit the nail right on the head! I'm not truly a big fan of artists releasing their material with the influence of other artists. Maybe we will get a "pure" Camouflage sound! -sigh- I miss the sound of "Voices and Images"...guess I better go dig up my CD!

Laters....
