Who saw it? What did you think?
I thought it was amazing. The guy who played Tony Wilson did a great job, as did the guy who played Bernard Sumner. The movie had me laughing my ass off all the way through.

How about the guy who played Ian Curtis, I think he looks like Christopher Reeves.. The funny part was when the guy who played Bernard Sumner started to talk, everybody was laughing at the movie theatre cause he sounded just like him..
I'm picking up some Happy Monday records,I like that sound..

craig and i finally saw it tonight... and i must say that i was impressed. i was shocked at myself for not knowing much about the background of the manchester scene..... loving bands from it so much.
the movie brings up some interesting issues....
music being ahead of its time

first shows played to 42 people (we've all been there as promoters and artists!)

I like how Martin Hannett was recording silence for use in his songs. I am so gonna try that. I'm sick of this digital silence at absolute zero crap. It makes things sound too cold.

I've always wondered why New Order claimed to be broke because of the Hacienda club not making any money, now I know..

This movie was terrific and impacted me in a wonderful way. The more I reflect on it the more it holds meaning for me. I found it ironic regarding the 40 people turn outs at Sex Pistols, Happy Mondays and early Joy Division gigs. I am sure most of us can relate to that for sure. It just shows that if you hit the right image and sound at the right place and time with people who are willing to risk it all, that you can get to the top.
I found the street philosophers comments to Tony about how life is like a wheel that while you are at the top the wheel is already going around to bring you back down to the bottom and vice-versa very true. Also the comment about music scene's being like a double-helix hit me as well. I think currently music is in the cross hairs of the helix again and that maybe it is time for a turn to a different sound. It is time for those who have passion about their music to seize the stage and the spot light. We are going through our time of boy/girl pop bands (the disco of our era) and it is time for a resurgence of the spirit of new wave. Seize the stage.

i totally agree... and i thought the same thing! i see that totally.... especially with the devils album... and the electroclash movement. NOW is the time.... i think the world is ready for the artists in this and every other "electronic music" genre that are ready to take the next leap. only the strong will survive.... any thought on who might be ready for the success????

Could not have said it better myself, (which is why I'm quoting you) This movie is absolutely amazing! I love it so much and want to see it over and over and buy the poster, soundtrack, shirt etc. I cried when Ian hung himself, the guy playing him did such a wonderful job, I am tearing up just thinking about it. I love Joy Division so much and seeing this movie made me both happy and sad, best movie I have ever seen!!!!
