Ok,so I know I am silly, but many posts in this cyberspace are silly,so I might well add the silly feta to the salad!
My fun question for today is:
If you could have a serrogate New Wave(or electro) father, who would be be?(Mind you,you have to pick someone who you think acts, looks like,or seems to be someone you think you could really relate to)
All improbable submissions welcome(I.e.,someone who may be childless, womanless,or even in the grave)!
Mine would be,Steve Strange.I don't love everything he has ever done, but I just know he is the serrogate Pap!
Now YOU try!:)

Racso from Hocico. I could wear pvc, leather and bolts all day long and he'd say I'm a pretty gal! ;-)

Good question!!!
I'd have to say Paul Robb though...Even though I don't think he's old enough to be my father *LOL* Man what musical knowledge I'd attain from him...Talk about a family trade I wouldn't mind having passed down to me :)

Vince Clarke without a doubt. And Siouxie my mother.
The girls from Human League can be my big sisters. WeŽd be a curious family.

I guess I see myself as the adopted child of Marc Almond, though I have the feeling that my emotional needs would have to be met by my uncle Dave Ball - what with Dad getting all melodramatic and all.
I don't know if I could handle Mark Mothersbaugh as a father. He's cool, but I don't know if I could go through life being called his 'little spud-boy' .

Martin Fry (ABC) would have to serve as surrogate dad, Roger Taylor as the quiet cousin that no one understands, John Taylor as the goofball, troublemaking uncle, not to mention Nick and Simon, the cooky next door neighbors who share the house with David Sylvian. <Kinda' like a New Romantic's "Full House" minus the Olsen twins>.
Everyone needs a mom--so, how about Sheila E? The only other one that comes to mind is Sheena Easton.
Now I know I am tired!
BTW, Nat, they had a weird special on VH-1 about "Video Vixens: Where Are They Now?" and Visage was mentioned. I was tinkering around with some gear and I didn't hear the context...but strange to hear that name after all these years!

so.... bowie was the first that came to mind for me... then i started thinking about how much i've lusted after him my whole life... and it started to creep me out... thinking of him as a father :) eeeeew! incest! hahahahha!
so..... i'd have to stick to the mom side, just to be safe. :) i'd like to go with alison moyet. i admire her so much as a musician and vocalist.... and i'm not sexually attracted to her in any way. aaaah! i feel much better now :)
happy thoughts...
meg :)

"who's your daddy, who's your daddy?" ;)
i would say that my serogate father was definately david sylvian... his influence over me has been huge (as far as what I've chosen to listen to, how I choose to write, etc)

My roommate in college and I made up a poster that said "There is no God but Bowie, and Iggy is his prophet."
That being said, like Meg, it'd just be too weird. And I'm straight, but still, I mean, it's Bowie. So, I dunno, probably Elvis Costello.

My name is Mark and my daddy is Alan Wilder whose married to my mom Stacey Q.. They had lots of kids, my brothers Gary Numan, Bernard Sumner, and Robert Enforcen.. My sisters from Tatu(yeahh we used to take showers when we were young, and still do today). My dad Alan was a player and fooled around with different women and men(j.k), had kids with them so now I have half brothers and sisters, Fletcher(when he was young he clapped to everything, so they nick named him Clapper or Clap, "Hey Clapper can you wash these dishes"), Moby, and my half sisters the girls from Expose(we used to take showers too when we were young, and still do today too). Together we are a strong disfunctional happy family.

morrissey spawned this monster on a sunday after a proclamation given to him by a gypsy named suedehead. with the use of a ouija board and a rusted spanner, they were able to pinpoint the exact day i was to be conceived. figure that one out....

Vladmir, I'd like to solve your riddle, but as you know, Sunday is a time which I must put out of my mind. One fine day (let it be soon), I'll be walking your streets in the clothes I've chosen for myself, the answer to your riddle in my gloved hand as the sun shines out of my behind. :)
