I wanted to know if there is anybody else here
who loves Wolfsheim? If so what got you interested in them which album or song?

Yes, I love Wolfsheim!! A friend of mine burned me a compilation and she put Annie and Kuntsliche Welten on it. I wanted to hear Spectators and when I was at her house, she played it for me. It was soooo incredible! I ordered it and was not disappointed in it at all.

I have 55578 and Popkiller. No Happy View is on back order and I plan on getting Dreaming Apes at the end of the month.

I can't pick a favorite album yet because I love them all. They are incredible!!!

There are several of us who love Wolfsheim in here. If you do a search on EGN for "Wolfsheim", you will see several threads that have come and gone about them.
As for how I got started listening to Wolfsheim? Well...I heard a song at the club a long time ago, then I seeked them out on Napster (gasp!), loved them...so I bought all of their albums and singles.

In My Opinion They Are The Greatest Band Of The Nineties.

First Heard ONCE IN A LIFETIME and then got involved with SPECTATORS and then I just dove into the rest.

Brilliant music.

The DVD is absolutely stunning I'v watched over and over again. It may be in PAL format but it will work on almost any computer DVD but I tried it in my APEX dvd player and worked which was not on my computer. So hopefully more people in the US will pick it up its so aw-some to see .Don't let PAL formated DVD deter you from checking it.

Sparrows and the nightingales and I donīt love you anymore are GREAT songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's been some debate as to W's live stage presence. Many feel they are quite boring and uninspiring live. Seeing them twice, I can say they certainly make up for any lack of movement with incredible props and lights. Huge 20ft iridescent inflatable figurines, waterfalls from keyboards and onstage "rainshowers". Stunning stuff. Peter does however have to stop reading his lyrics from that songbook! It's quite silly sometimes. I'm curious what the DVD is like though. A review would be great!

I'm also rather fond of wolfsheim. Their songs seem to have lots of emotion to them. The first song I heard by them was once in a lifetime, I believe it was on RSA sometime back. I currently own spectators and no happy view, good stuff.

I love Wolfsheim as well and wanted to get the DVD. Anyone from New York City know where I can pick up the DVD, or is it only out in Europe?

The Wolfsheim Kompendium DVD is also available in a region-free NTSC version from addifferentdrum.com and also at Metropolis mail-order. The videos are especially interesting.

It's also the only place I've ever seen a water fountain used as a concert effect.

I like Wolfsheim very much, even though I think that some of their songs feel a little bit naive.
From their newer albums (Dreaming Apes & Spectators) I like mostly the songs "Upstairs", "Leave no deed undone", "Heroin, she said" (expecially the Ernst Horn remix), "Künstliche Welten", "Love is Strange" and "Touch".
Their older works is also good. "Annie" is one of my all-time favourites (by any band) and "The Sparrows and the Nightingales" is a classic. They have also made a cover of "Ruby, don't take your love to town" which I think is very good!

i have loved Wolfsheim since the first time i heard them. when i moved here two years ago, we had a small club group. we would meet at this one guys apartment, and "Once In A Lifetime" was playing on a mix cd, the next day i downloaded it, and soon i bought SPECTATORS.

I love Wolfsheim. On my main audio site we trade compilations and an internet buddy sent me a 'goth' comp that included "The Sparrows and The Nightengales". Actually found a copy of Spectators at Best Buy and then proceeded to order the rest online. What a great band.

I will say that I have not read much about the DVD and haven't picked it up yet mainly because I feel that the live CD, Hamburg Rom is pretty uninspired for a live CD. Maybe the DVD improves upon that. As with most music DVD's I suspect that the sound mix plays a big part. When DVD's are done right it's stunning, otherwise it's a farce, IMO.

jc

Not only do I love their song "Once in a Lifetime;" I credit that song for turning me on to modern synthpop. (I had always been a fan of older synthpop and new wave, but I wasn't aware that any newer stuff was being made until I heard that song.)

I was at this outdoor desert event, and the moon was full....I heard that song playing, and I swear to God, I'm not kidding: I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

I've had a hell of a time finding Wolfsheim cd's in stores, though. I guess I'll have to buy them online.

Just my 5,25 cents about DVD:
It's good made. Super cover and printing, better than DM DVD (imho). The DVD adds are also very good, all clips + interview.
About the concert itself: Theay are absolutely static on the stage, they don't move, there are nothing in the background, only some fountains on the stage - that's all. Another not a good thing:
Peter can't sing high notes as on the CD. Some songs from the last album Spectators (it's absolutely great album) were terrible performed, because of the voice, especially ITīS HURTING FOR THE FIRST TIME. Maybe was something wrong with headphones...
Conclusions: Not recommended if you're not a fan. The sound of the DVD is good. I just made a selection of the best songs from the concert on 80 min MD and it was enough. Maybe I'll watch the DVD again but later....

Refer to the interview on DVD the next album will more electronic. On the VNV concert I saw some posters of Wolfsheim. They planned the tour during the fall of 2002. But it postponed untill the spring 2003. Here is some official news about it:
The release of the forthcoming album "Close enough" has been delayed until

january 2003. The new material shows an enormous increase in quality with

the result of Markus Reinhardt and Peter Heppner bursting with ideas for

arrangements and lyrics - and therefore not keeping the initially planned

releasedate september 2002. Creativity wins over commercialization.

Also delayed until march 2003 is the "Close enough Tour", on which WOLFSHEIM will be presenting the new album live for the first time.

Its nice to know there are many Wofsheim fans on here. When I first signed up on Electrogarden I was somewhat surprised there was not A forum for them but general discussion is fine. Anyway in response to what you wrote about finding there stuff I don't know what you have but I highly recommend Popkiller and the Kunstliche Welten single and as far find I'v picked up quite A few things on ebay because there stuff is pretty price or if that don't work. There is always InfraRot.

Ok thank you a lot for your help zoggoz, very kind of u!
I know about the nightingales song, itīs great, so I donīt think of it right now. Im interested in Specatators, dreaming apes and...something else.
I will check out the MCDīs you mentioned aswell...

the specators box doesnīt seem too bad either.
Which MCDīs are in that one?

I'm not familiar with the Spectators Box that one got past me Noooooooooo. One thing I forgot to mention was there DVD and with there MCD for Kunstliche Welten there are two versions one has an extra an instrumental called F and the other has the video edit. Look for there new single in September I wish January would get here already thats when there new one comes out.

~robotiko1

The Box set is basically the label and or band bilking fans out of more money. It's the same 'Spectators' album released in conjuction with it's respective singles in a "box". Since so much attention was gained by the band through this release it was most likely thought as a good idea to "re-release" everything in one nifty package. Eh.

Was there ever any attempt by Wolfsheim to release Spectators, or Once In A Lifetime in the U.S.?

Though it is doubtful, it is possible that it could have found quite some Market.

~zoggoz
August 23rd, 2002, 12:05 AM
Thanks for the info robotiko1 I thought it might be A repackaging ploy so I did some searching on line tonight and refused to jump at it. I hate that when labels do that kind of crap! Like with Front Line and Delerium they have all these compilations of there best work year after year re-released repackaged
I never pick any of that stuff up.

~Nevernever

The price of the Spectators Box (album+2MCD) is the same like Spectators album price. If you buy it separately - no problem. I just think it's better to get 3 CD's for the same price as one..... (It's in Germany at least)

Here is the link for the US release of Spectators on the Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005J9XW/qid=1030091764/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-0083930-0672154

In comparing:
US Spectators on Amazon.com - $14.99
Spectators Box Import - $22.99
Spectators Album Import - $27.99
Kuenstliche Welten Pt.1 [CD-SINGLE] [IMPORT] - $11.99
Spectators (Digipak) [IMPORT] - $25.49

For the box you 2MCD for $ 8.

That's all.

No Prob.

It's good if you've never bought anything by the artists, but I hate when they throw a new song/mix into the package, or bill it as a lmtd ed or something. I'm not quite sure if that's what W did though.

I was kind of hoping that when they released Spectators in the US then it would gain some radio play. *Sighs* Guess I just needed another reality check.

~zoggoz
August 24th, 2002, 03:44 AM
Well MGun one would of thought that to be possible. I'm always hoping that might happen if only we could get those dam NSYNC and EMINEM Cd's away from the radio stations we might have A chance. Time to implement operation take back the air ways.

~MGun
August 24th, 2002, 08:07 AM
Please tell me operation takebacktheairways has a chance. Eminem is in a new movie, and I think it is sick to see these people milk their earwashed fans. People will love Wolfsheim if they could only hear Wolfsheim. People all around still appreciate Depeche Mode, so Wolfsheim should still have a chance.

The thing is that Iīm so crazy if I really love a band that I would buy anything with the band, whatever the label releases.
Even if itīs a box with an album and singles I already have.
You know me and Alphaville.

And about the specators box...
I will buy it when I go to germany!

~zoggoz
August 25th, 2002, 09:22 AM
I can see the box set would be A good deal for you Avil since you don't have anything by them yet. For me I'm just going to wait for there new single next month and there new one in January.

It will be a nice little start with one of their best albums according to the people Iīve heard of.

I think its A great starting point I would have to say Popkiller would be A very good second choice. Also one of there MCD that is not mentioned much. That is also A track on Spectators is "It's Hurting for the First Time" it was released because it was used in this German movie called "Liebe Deine Nachste! It got quite A bit of attention but anyway I never see the single around much so if you get A chance try to pick that up to and check out the movie its very good.

Avil
August 26th, 2002, 10:37 AM
Anything with german synth or whatever, I want it :)

Spectators and popkiller are my first choices thanks a lot.
Any special songs on these one I should open my eyes for?
And btw, which album is the sparrows and the nightingales on?

Christina

~zoggoz
August 26th, 2002, 02:50 PM
Well let me see now, "The Sparrows and the Nightingales" is on their first full length "No Happy View" an on that same release there is very beautiful track called "This Time" I'm surprised it never became A single. To me its almost comparable to The Sparrows song. As for "Popkiller" I love that one as much as "Spectators". The tracks that move me the most on "Popkiller" are Tender days, Lovesong,For you I'm Bleeding,Auf ein Wort, and Now I Fall I hope this helps Avil

Thank you a lot zoggoz!
I will check no happy view out, Iīm sure itīs a great album as the song...the song u mentioned from the same album must be great too if you can compare it to the sparrows and the nightingales...
