Hi guys,

I was wondering if he releases any other albums besides "COUNTERFEIT EP." I really like his voice but couldn't find any other info whether he has released any other album. HOPEFULLY there's something outhere........ Maybe some rarities ?

Is he not working on a solo, or is that just Dave and Fletch. If anyone hears of anything, let's hear it. Counterfeit EP was INCREDIBLE!

Yep, he's working on a new album. It's going to be a cover's album. There has been no release date set yet, but will probably be released next year.

I know he worked on a tribute album for Leonard Cohen. I don't remember if he sang on it or just worked behind the scenes. I will look around.

He also worked on Soluble Words, I believe remixing and may have done some vocals. Again, I can't remember the specifics, but will look around for you.

Here's the info on the Cohen tribute album:

Martin contributed to the "Tower Of Song: The Songs Of Leonard Cohen" tribute by covering the song "Coming Back To You" in 1995. This song was released in 1984 on Leonard Cohen "Various Positions" album.

Here's the information on his remixes:

Queer (Garbage)

This song by Garbage has been remixed by Martin in collaboration with Gareth Jones and Paul Freegard. This single was released in 1995.

Rejoice (Spirit Feel)

Martin produced and remixed the last song of the first album of the band Spirit Feel, released in 1995. This band also worked with Martin for his cover of Leonard Cohen's "Coming Back To You".

Soluble Words (On)

This song by Ken Andrews (On) has been remixed by Martin in collaboration with Gareth Jones and Paul Freegard. The song "Soluble Words" was released in 1999 only as a limited edition promotional Digipak CD single.

WOW...... Thanks Steph !!

You have provided me with details about Martin. :-) I was just wondering he has released any other solo album. I really like "Counterfeit EP." He has an amazing voice......so I'm looking forward to his other solo project (with him singing in it ).......

Nope, he has only released Counterfeit to date. He is working on Counterfeit 2 though.

I am glad to have helped. I am a Goregirl thru and thru. I had to find the information. I don't want to turn in my dM membership card.

I think Coming Back To You is available on one of the newer Strikes boots that emerged :)

Update:

Might also be on the boot called Heart Gore, I'd have to check at home, not sure off hand...

But FX, if you like Mart and Counterfiet, try to track this thing down...It has completely different versions of the Counterfiet songs, way better than all of the album/e.p. versions...

If you get the new Propaganda record, Martin did some solo on one of the tracks....I got this info from the DM Official Site a year ago...

No, coming back to you isn't on the 14th strike. The 14th strike is called Modern Times or Heart Gore. It has Martin's Counterfeit songs and a remix of The Sun and The Rainfall from 1995. I have the 14th strike. :D

I am sure it's on a later strike. If you like, I can look and let you know. :)

Yeah I know I've seen it appear on a couple boots, but man it's been too long since I've been in the loop...At times like this, I still wish I was managing the record store again...Wait, I'm always thinking of how much I'd still like to be managing the record store :D

Managing a record store?? Ohh, I hope they gave you deep discounts. I go to Halo's site or I look around for information. I haven't wanted any boots that weren't shows for a while now. I am pretty set in my shows. Now, I am looking for Strikes and other neat boots.

Are you kidding...Can we say "free"...I never payed for anything...Sometimes we made so little money coming in, the bossman said just start taking what you want for credit...I was all over that :)

As for shows myself, I'd like to get some Black Celebration and Violator stuff, but I've never heard soundboards...Then again, as you told me earlier, niether have you...Makes you wonder if there are any out there...

So, I guess I have to get the bootlegs if I wanna hear some more of Martin Gore albums.................

Anything in particular that you guys would recommend? Some bootlegs really have a bad sounds, so I figure you guys are the expert on determining which bootlegs have the best song selection & sound quality.

Oh yeah, which Depeche Mode bootlegs you think is good too ? Thanks !!

Well, there is much debate on the World Violation era bootlegs. Some say there ARE soundboards, but Mute is holding them. Some say there aren't because they would have been leaked by now. I don't know. It's just a shame that there are such poor recordings of that tour. Sigh! :(

I hate to say this, because I may start a war with another Gore lover here, but I am glad that they did NOT release the London video. Martin is wearing this horrible getup. He wore, what looks to be huge handcuffs across his chest. His trademark floof is slicked back. :( :( I don't like that look. He has to have his floof!!

As far as boots go, I would recommend the Strike series. The early ones are really good! Be careful though. There is NO 13th Strike. It's a fake, although a good one. I have it. I would recommend that you start out with the 14th Stike. It's called: Heart Gore or Modern Times. It has remixes of Mart's counterfeit songs, plus a beautiful remix of The Sun and The Rainfall.

What you need to do is go to this website:depeche-mode.com. It's NOT the official site, but an excellent fan site. Go down a tiny bit to the links. You will see bootlegs. Click on the link. Then go to the remix link. You will have to go down I think past the T section to find what you are looking for. Tne site has excellent reviews. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for over a year.

You can also find boots on eBay, but they can be pricey. Most of the ones I bought were in the $20 to $30.00 range. I don't buy anymore, so I am lucky there. You can sometimes find them in record stores, but I have only found them in a store over an hour away from my house. There are some excellent traders out there who can help you get started. What you have to do is look around on other dM boards as well as this one. I remember seeing a post by one, Chaos, here. He posts on Halo's site and has a really good reputation.

As far as live shows go. I would suggest you start with San Francisco 1994, if you can find it. There are many versions out there, so you have to do your research on the one to get. The show I have is a soundboard and it's incredible!!! Dave's higher than a kite, but he's funny!!! Martin sings Condemnation and he uses a different guitar on Personal Jesus and it's more rocky. I love, love, love, love that show!!!! I was really lucky because it was one of the first ones I got. The one you want to get is called Rated PG. It's incredible!!

As far as other shows go, look for either soundboards (recorded from the mixing desk) or radio shows. If you get an audience recording, make sure to get a good one. Again, check Halo's site for details. I have some excellent audience recordings and some really horrible ones as well. Just be careful what you get.

Oh, one more thing. I highly recommend investing in a burner. It makes trades easier when you have one.

Send me a private message if you want more infomation. I could go on and on and on here, but I think I have said enough. :)

Do you mean Aug. 18 Saturday or Aug. 19 Sunday? The Aug. 19 show is incredible!!!!! I haven't found a decent 8/18 recording yet. Then again, I haven't been looking for one either.

The first night at Staples, Aug. 14 is excellent too! I like it alot. The bass is missing from it, so it needs to be adjusted. Another excellent recording is Detroit. Although, there is a screaming girl and talkers at times. I ruined a bootlegger's recording on the first night at Staples with my screaming. I got a little carried away. :woohoo:  Stockholm is an excellent European one to get as well. It doesn't have I Feel Loved in it though. It's a great recording. I haven't seen anyone who has ripped ONIP yet. We are all waiting for that to be traded. Some day!!! Sigh!

This is an update !!

I just got a DEPECHE MODE CDs called "20 Years (1981-2001)-- Compilation For The Masses" (4 CD-SET). It's kinda pricey, but i bought it anyway. :-) It's has got DM's hits, remixes, B-sides, LIVE, etc.

The funny thing is, you also get one track where some groups are singing "Happy Birthday" to Fletch. The credit says "Tampa sings "happy birthday' to Andrew Fletcher (LIVE) 2001 "

I just though that's So cute. :-)

Dude, you have to get the Salt Lake City show, where we sang Happy Birthday to Martin. :D It's worth the show just to hear that. :) That was a great show!!! I met p+E that day.

***edit***

I am out of posts. Sigh!! Where did you get the cds from? You cannot overdose on dM. Well, you can, but it's hard.

I bought this one cos' it has MARTIN GORE sang " Compulsion" (1989) and "Gone" (1989).

Plus tons of cool tracks. 4Cds, man. I'll be overdosed in DM for a while now.

Compulsion and Never turn your back on mother earth.
Sure, they are all great songs, but I would love to hear some solo stuff that he has written himself...wouldn´t that be great?

test

He doesn't write songs for his solo efforts. He feels that it would take away from depeche MODE. I for one cannot wait to hear his covers. I am hoping he does an Elvis song. I know he did one at the piano bar recordings, but he was drunk and the sound quality is poor. I would love to hear a studio version! :woohoo: :D

no he is really a talanted guy, both for himself and for DM...he has enough for both things!!

gotta get an ice-cream...
