This is my favourite language ever!! Just gotta love it.

Donīt you think that this language is just the most perfect language for synth/electronic music? Sure english sounds very good too, but when I hear someone sing in german with those synth sounds in the background, I just wanna jump of happiness.
Germany will always be the synthcountry numbero ONE!
(OK, USA isnīt far behind..but..whatever...:D)

Listen to And one, Wolfsheim, Alphavilleīs german songs...PURE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Deutschland über alles!!

Hmm, I think I would prefer the English language. However, we could negotiate...perhaps Germans with English lyrics in thick German accents. ;)

Actually, I do not think it matters too much at all..really.

No sure, in the end it doesnīt matter too much.
But german still got a special feeling for me.

Like in some And one songs, when they mix english and german, thatīs just perfect!!! The same with Wolfsheim.

i wouldn't wanna hear welle for example without the german lyrics. it's refreshing somehow to hear the words in a different language sometimes.

as far as synth-superiority...i would have said without hesitation that germany ruled a year ago but the states have exploded with talent (at least i'm hearing more of it right now). great music from all over really...it'd be a super time to win the lottery!

Yes, I agree, the us has given us a lot of nice music.
I donīt think I have to count them all.
For me, both english and german are foreign languages even though I can master them both.
But still, it sounds much better to hear the german language, both in the music and around me (sorry guys! )
Iīm so totally freaked out when it comes to germany...hoho...

Anyone heard german pop song?s? or german hiphop? hehe...thatīs neat!

welle are good, but not too much!! then its just irritating...too much simply.

You know, to this day I get a kick out of listening to Plastic Bertrand's "Ca Plane Pour Moi". If it was not in French I do not think I would enjoy it so much. It is cool, but a bit comical as well.

Hey..... here's another band that I haven't heard much about. I heard "Virgin Superstar" is a great album. I'm thinking about checking them out. They did a cover of AV "Big In Japan", right ? What kind of music do they similar to? Is it light synthpop or hardcore? Please do inform me.

The only German song I have now is WOLFSHEIM "KUNSTLICHE WELTEN" and some songs in WAVE IN HEAD "Time To Speak" album. That's all that I have. But I do love them though I don't understand a single word what's the song is all about.

Well, and one is not pure synthpop if you wanna explain it that way. Itīs just...electronic...But between light synthpop and hardcore, itīs more hardcore I guess.
Donīt know which band to compare it with. Virgin superstar wouldnīt be the best album to start with to get to know and one, I would suggest Nordhausen. (i guess many of u agree with me)
And yes, theyīve made a cover of Big in Japan, has only been played live.

About Wolfsheim. I suggest that you check out the song The sparrows and the nightingales...That song is amazing!

Music sung in Deutsch ...

"Der Kommisar" by Falco
"Major Tom (Coming Home)" by Peter Schilling
"Neun und neunzig Luftballons" by Nena (probably not synthpop?)

And if you like modern stuff, I would try "Zeit zu Lieben" or "Wie Schnee" by Wave in Head. Great stuff!

Germany is always going to be the #1 country in the modern synthpop scene. They have a heritage for electronic innovation that dates back to Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk, and goes right through Camouflage and Celebrate the Nun, into modern times.

Ah. I had forgotten till just now that I was going to add something to this thread. Nothing much actually, just going to say if you like German spoken synth (with some English as well), check out this band called "Plastic". A nice mixture of Electro, EBM and Synthpop. Not overly original but still good and worth a listen.

Hey . . .
I actually still have my German Peter Schilling albums, albeit them all being on cassettes and in poor condition. 120 Grad was a pretty cool album. Hitze der Nacht was a catchy tune.

Though I can speak, write, and comprehend German, I prefer listening to songs in English.

Kind of cool to hear Beborn Beton sing a couple of songs in German when they opened for Apop in Los Angeles.

One thing that's always bugged me is the overuse of eins, zwei, drei, vier . . . to begin a song.

Das ich may not be synthpop, but they are still electric, and they are wonderful when it comes to german, they have a style that makes their music fit perfectly with the german vocals.

I checked out Plastic, real good stuff!
(Itīs geeerman) Very very good!!!!! (not only the vocals, the music wasnīt too bad either)

And peter schilling..think I got a LP with this guy...somewhere...something with the space I think.

Hmm, I am going to have to say that the English versions of those songs appeal to me more. I think Falco is really entertaining..he always had a sort of bizarre cult following in my weird gang of friends. I really enjoy his material, however, After The Fire's version of "Der Kommisar" is unstoppable in my humble opinion.

I do agree, that german song stylings are ever so fun.Perhaps it's because my ancestory is German, but I simply adore the sound of it.:)
Say,anyone heard the german version of,"The Anvil" by Steve Strange?Man,it's zany!

You guys should check out the band D. Pressiv.
Now there you got pure electronic music with german vocals.
Itīs not sounding funny or something like that, itīs fits perfectly together. Itīs beautiful.
In some of the songs, and some parts of other songs by this band there is a female singing. A FEMALE. A WOMAN!
And I accept it!!!!!!!!!! (a miracle everyone thinks...)
But there is something special over this band...love it!!!!

You guyz are starting to scare me... LOL. Usually, we are told that we have the ugliest accent ever (especially when speaking English, although my hairdresser in Manchester told me that mine is quite sexy, almost as sexy as the French.... LOL BIG TIME).
I think EBM/Synth Pop has such a great deal of German influence because it's a very vivid scene over here. EBM LIVES. The Eighties are still quite popular and the dm parties every weekend are crowded, not only with "De(a)votees", "Depechies" or "EBM'ler". If you live in an industrial ĪĪĪĪhole like Mannheim, as I used to, or the run-down Eastern part of this country, you just have to become sensitive for the dark kind of music!

How come no one of you has mentioned melotron???

Your city is the most wonderful one in the whoooole world.
I love Hamburg!!! Have only been there three times, but the last two times was in connection with Alphaville, and that made everything even more wonderful. Love germany to death!!!!!!

Hmm..I would have to say my only real musical exporsure to pure German lyrics was a few German and Austrian pop artists like Peter Schilling, Falco, etc. and some of the heavy techno material from Master Program, Konzept, Voi, etc.

This kind of music is called "Neue Deutsche Welle" which only existed from 1982 to 1983. Minimalistic tunes and funny lyrics were the trademarks of this music genre. Besides it was a "rebellion" against the serious and depressing lyrics of Punk bands

If you want to know more about this music style you should visit this site: Ich will Spass (http://www.ichwillspass.de/cgi-bin/diskussion/YaBB.pl?board=iws-neuigkeiten;action=news;cgi=1/)
