Here's what I like: Orbital, FSOL, Underworld, Aphex Twin(Ambient Tracks), Rabbit In The Moon, Orb, William Orbit. I love ambient electronica. One of my favourite cd's is Northern Exposure. Some of my favourite tracks are ATB " 9pm Till I Come(Signum Mix), Underworld " Cowgirl ", Orbital " Halycon On On ". I suppose these bands are sort of mainstream. Could you guys recommend some other bands, tracks I might like. Living in B.C, Canada I don't get much exposure to the electronic music scene.

Do you like Future Sounds of London? if you like ambient electronica, then you might like this group.

Ken - Some additional artists you may also enjoy, (depending on your preferences with-in a particular sound style, and to what you feel is an acceptable level of experimentation with-in your preferred sound styles), based on what you have offered, I would like to suggest the following:

Recoil – http://www.recoil.co.uk
Boards of Canada - http://www.boardsofcanada.com/ - * * * HIGHLY RECOMMENDED * * *
Scott Sturgis (Converter) - http://www.disrupted.org/~dtime/ - * * * HIGHLY RECOMMENDED * * *
Haujobb / architect / NEWT - http://www.planetmyer.de/
cEvin Key / download / plateau - http://www.subconsciousstudios.com/
Autechre - http://www.warprecords.com
Jega - http://www.matadorrecords.com/jega/
Lusine ICL - http://music.calarts.edu/~jmciln/
The Alpha Conspiracy - http://www.alphaconspiracy.com/
JVOX - http://www.audiogalaxy.com/bands/jvox/
Twine - http://www.twinesound.com/

Bornslippy - Future Sounds of London and FSOL are one-in-the-same, (at least this is what I've always understood). :)

EDITED TO ADD . . . Please realize that some of the bands I suggested would not typically be considered "ambient electronica", (I do not feel some of these bands are such), but rather, some of these bands experiment with some of the sound elements often found with-in some "ambient electronica".

Take care,
Ross

There's also 808 State, I think they pretty much fall into the category.

Don’t forget BT.
He is one of the most talented electronic/ambient musicians outhere. I collect all of his stuff.

Here’s some of his albums:
#1. Ima (2CD-SET)
#2. ESCM
#3. Movement In Still Life
#4. R & R (Rare & Remixed)
Check those albums out. You won’t be disappointed !! Peace !!

Try Beefcake's "Coincidentia Oppositorum" or "Drei". You'll love them, trust me. Also for more ambient stuff pick up Forma Tadre's "Automate". Try www.malignantrecords.com for the beefcake, I can't rec tracks to download because they didn't name any of them for the past 2 albums. heh

Ken, You are quite right about Halcyon+On+On..it is a brilliant song. Here are some ambient suggestions:
Megatonk (very similar feel to Halcyon)
Electric Skychurch (pretty much everything)
Salt Tank
If you have not yet picked them up, the compilations 'United States of Ambience' is a great place to start.

I think you should visit my Ambidextrous thread in the News/Discoveries section of the DNB/Beats/.../Ambient Related forum which nobody has taken a look before. So you will be the first one.

My second suggestion is Fizzarum. They are quite experimental as Autechre used to be but it seems that already found their own sound with their debut "Monochrome Plural". ( samples on mp3.com )

Both bands have a more complex, sophisticated sound than ATB for example ever had. I hope you like them.

Yep, you can't never forget BT.

In adition, I just discovered this gem. BALLIGOMINGO....... The album is called "BENEATH THE SURFACE." It's a cross between Sarah McLachlan, ENIGMA, & DELERIUM. Check this one out, Ken. Highly recommended !!!
