good internet bandwidth

what is a good provider bandwidth
i am trying to switch from dsl to cable internet and there options
i think i can choose 3 kbps or 6 or 9
what is needed for fast browsing these days
my current dsl seems to be 1.5 kbps only

I think that a 6Mbps connection is more than sufficient for any surfing. I think you meant to put and M for mega insted of the k for kilo in your post. Check the upload speed if you want to manage a website or upload stuff though since those specs are for the download.
