I love The sparrow and the nightingales, but it seems like I´ve only heard one other song with this fine German band; I don´t love you anymore.
Can someone that knows more than me about this band tell me if there are some other songs with them that are similar to the bird song? Just love that one!!!!

I own the "sparrows and nightingales" single CD.. I played that a lot last summer, mmmm memories.. For some reason the last record didnt do anything for me.. Actually that's the only l.p that I bought.. Seraphim had told me to get "dreaming apes" from Wolfsheim.. I'm interested in buying the DVD too cause they're a lot of fun..
Avil(young lady) what are you doing up at almost 2 in the morning?

Is there any interesting remix of the song on that single?
Then maybe I should consider getting it.
I haven´t seen them live or anything, so I don´t know, and I don´t wanna buy something I don´t know anything about except that they´ve made ONE incredible good song.
Bornslippy, didn´t you see that? I´m posting here! ;)

First, isn´t Spectators their new album?
Second, how much is the average price for the dvd?

dunno if this will interest you, but a german DJ named Mark'Oh did a cover of "The Sparrows & the Nightingales" - he's kind of a techno/trance guy so it's not exactly synthpop, but it's a good cover and it's also very catchy.
i believe it's on his cd "Rebirth" - but if i were you i'd try to find an mp3 of it first before rushing out & spending your hard-earned cash.
oh - you may recognize the name because he's also worked in collaboration with bands like Mesh.

Once in a lifetime is my personal favorite aside from Sparrows And The Nightingales...I got the best of 87-95 2cd and the single for Once in a lifetime, thats about it :)

Truth be told, I also had a VHS of them live at the RockPalast Festival, but their performance was uh, let's just say not very good...No emotion, and monotone as hell...Sorry to all the Wolfsheim fans, I just don't care for everything...Which I'm entitled to do...So yeah, I gave some of the other stuff a listen, and I just prefer only what I have so far...Although there is a song I heard on Live 365 with Wolfsheim's lead singer guest vocaling on and it was great...What song is that??? :)

55578 1987-1995, Spectators, Dreaming Apes and Popkiller are IMHO the best!

If you ask me he just turned a perfectly good song into another "unx unx unx unx" beat driven mediocrity, with vocals/lyrics that were never meant to be sung at that speed.
I love the original, but I can live without that cover (as with much Mark'Oh material).
Just my 2 eurocents of opinion...

I was expecting a lot better from Wolfsheim last year when I saw them at M'era Luna Festival. It turned out to be SO SO boring that my friends and I just left after we heard "Once in a Lifetime" or "The Sparrows And The Nightingales".
The stage was big enough, some windmill thingies there that looked cute enough, but apart from that it was just the most boring 2-guys-and-a-synth show I have ever seen.
"No emotion and monotone as hell" is the perfect description. It looked like the guy was nailed to the floor! I didn't see him move from the same boring spot. Really left me not wanting to see them live again!! It's one of the reasons why I won't bother to buy the DVD...

Just like the Pet Shop Boys when I saw them recently. Then again, keep in mind. They are getting old.

Dj Darktide, thanks a lot for the suggestion.
I´ve heard his work with Mesh, and I´ve heard his own work, and it´s sounds pretty good to me. Think I will check out the cover aswell, can be pretty interesting to hear.
NoirTech, hahaha, very funny! LOL
I´m so amused...:)
And when it comes to liveperformances, who says a show can´t be good if the singer doesn´t move? YOU DON`T HAVE TO MOVE YOUR HEAD ALL THE TIME, you don´t get as tired as you use to! Perfect. Duh.

I don't know wether that would be interesting for you, but as nobody has mentioned it before, you might want to listen to "Die Flut" by Witt. That one was together with Heppner a few years back. It's german though, but still a very nice song.

Thanks a lot for that! I like Witt, and I LOVE German music, especially music sang in german. Let me ask you, who is Heppner?
Talking about Witt, he made a great song called Bataillon D´Amour, love the video!

Oops, I could have guessed that, but had to ask to be sure.
I love the way he sings, says a word in English but makes it sound like German. Isn´t that just wonderful?

I remember that a German band sang in English with a Saxon accent. Unfortunately I forgot their name. O.K., its just a fun band but if you like that stuff I will try to find their name for you. Or do you already know which band I mean ?

oh, oh!! a WOLFSHEIM thread, one of my top favorite electrobands in the world. :)
AVIL, get " Spectators " a brilliant album, the one that contains
the german track " Kunstliche Welten " definitely one of my very favorite Synthpop tracks everrr.
and also get " Popkillers " another great album as well.

Suddenly my memory regained the name of this fun band. It's the "Ö Lapaloma Boys"
Back to Wolfsheim
Now I wonder if you meant the accent of the singer or the short verse which is sung in German
Avil
July 9th, 2002, 03:39 PM
MaxMode, yes I think I will get Spectators to begin with.
Do you know how much the dvd cost? (average price?) I can buy it for like $7.
Noseeum, I thought about his accent in general, especially when he says "Future" in the beginning of the song, he pronnounces it: Fjuture, not future future, do you understand?
But I do think that the verse sang in german is wonderful!!!
"Voice der Führer der mich Führt, ich warte immer noch" (AAAAAH)
I love german!!!!!!!
To germany with love!!
And about the saxon thing, haven´t heard that, and I guess it ist that ease to find anymore (without AG)

actually Avil, the "sparrows and nightingales" single is only a two track song...
1. Sparrows and nightingales long version(7 min version)
2. Sparrows and nightingales short version.
damn this cd was made in 92....
I luv import records but errrr 20 dollars for a CD.. that's insane..

Avil-
Get "Spectators" it's a classic in my opinion. And yes I ADORE Wolsheim, Erick!. Peter Heppner has an exceptional voice. I did see a video performance of them at a German music festival & they did not move around at all. The music was good and they were playing with an orchestra.
Very good, but not exciting. I would still love to see them live.

The stuff Peter Heppner did with Umbra Et Imago is cool. I especially like the track "Lieber Gott" which is on Umbra's latest (I think) albulm Mia Culpa.
There are a few other songs he did with them - Away, Black Waves, and another song I can't remember.

"Wo ist der Führer" etc...
Where is the leader etc...
About their live performances... Peter is just not the type to dance around like a madman on stage, so why bother? Their 1999 concert at the Bizarre festival was quite impressive with the two of them joined by a complete classical orchestra.

STPH -- You're always a bit too late. But you always GOT some good ones. Perfect strategy. :-)
Also try, Schiller album called "VOYAGE." They have "Dream of You" with Peter Heppner in it. The whole album itselves is MAGNIFICENT (kinda 'Enigma' meets eletronic & synthpop)

What is NTSC?
Something special? Am I stupid now?
And is the dvd worth picking up, are they good live?
Or do you have to be into the band to like them live?
However, I´m happy that they didn´t split up, they have made some decent songs...gotta get an album with them soon
My last post..again...blubb
