Has anyone here ever met Depeche Mode? If not, what would you do/say if you could?

I met them when I was very young...I was about 10 or 11 years old...It was at the Beverly Center in Hollywood for the Wherehouse in-store they did for the release of Violator...We were 11th in line and I got to meet and took pictures in front of the table with all four :D
Being I was young, I hadn't the slightest clue as to what to say, but if I could meet them again, I'd tell them, what are you thinking??? Get it together and release another dance album already...You've matured somewhat, you've had you're fun and did it you're way, now give the hardcore fans what they want...Another album full of dance floor friendly hits JMHO

Will you marry me...j/k.
But I would like to. :)
I would just tell them how much their music has helped me through the good and bad times, that they are the best band in the world and to keep making music until they drop dead...
ok until they stop enjoying it, whichever comes first.

I saw them hanging out in a nightclub, but didn't actually get to meet them. So close , but yet so far..... :)

I've never met them, but I think all I would say is "thanks".
I've liked every single release they've done. I've been a DM fan since '86 or so, but I find myself listening more and more to their later works.
Oh yeah! I would also tell them to get rid of their "CREEPY", live keyboardist and get someone else. eek
heh

I donīt know. Guess I wouldnīt say so much because I donīt know any of them. With AV, I have more personal relationships, but not with DM. Guess I would say like everyone else does: You do some great music. hehehe...

When Exciter came to Dallas last year, I was lucky enough to land 3rd row AND backstage passes. It was incredible - I got to meet Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher. Dave G. went to the hotel after the show, so I have yet to meet him. Though Exciter wasn't the best show I've seen DM put on, it was definetly the best experience and the most memorable. I saw the Violator and the SFD tour front row as well. Won both tickets off the radio.
NOW....for my fondest DEPECHE MODE MEMORY :
3 years ago, while drinking at a bar with some friends in Arlington, TX., I glanced over at the next table over and there sat Martin Gore and his wife. I was stunned! I walked over to their table and introduced myself. His wife was originally from the local area and they were in town for a wedding. After giving him the usual "I'm your biggest fan and I love DM SOOOO much" spool, I headed back to my table. Shortly after, the waitress brought my table a round of drinks and said it was from Gore and his wife. A few minutes after that, Martin and his wife walked up to my table and asked if they could join us!! They ended up drinking with us for a couple of hours. He was SO cool.
Hey, if I don't have bragging rights with THIS one...no one does!!!!

Wow! That is an amazing story. I would love to sit with Martin Gore. I think it would take super human will power to avoid asking him to sing one of my songs. That would be a synthpop musician's dream.

I met them back in January of '88 on the Music for the Masses tour. I was on a college trip to London for 10 days and got tickets to see DM at Wembley Arena. My friend went on a date with DM's bodyguard, Andre. The next night we got invited backstage at Wembley and it was "family and friends night" for Depeche so my friend and I were the only fans there. We were then invited to the Hammersmith Palais for the afterparty and I talked to Fletch, Martin and DM's old friends and their family members all night at the club, which included a champagne toast to the band. I wound up hooking up with one of Martin and Fletch's best friends and my friend hooked up with the other friend of theirs and she dumped Andre.

So those guys took us up to Birmingham to see the next DM show by car, picking us up at our hotel. Fletch gave us promo tickets and passes so I got to go to another party that night. In fact, while the guys were undressing after the show I bummed around onstage by myself and checked out all their equipment. Martin is very flirtatious and all of DM were very cool people. Alan was very shy. I spent the night in Birmingham and could have seen more DM shows but I was in a school program/theatre seminar and had to be back in London. Since DM had been my favorite band since 1984 needless to say I was in seventh heaven. For any of you who were too young to see the "Music for the Masses" tour, I'm sorry, because it was a Godsend.

I met martin once way back in about 1993 or so.
It was a local concert smallish venue and there were Lot of look likes in the audience.
I posed for a pic with what I thought was a martin look alike, turns out rumor has it, it was really him.
If If I had to do it over again, Hmm....
Don't think I can really say with 'big brother' watching and all

TRUE DAT!
Try and ask me to find it. It was funny cause they were tickets that I got for my birthday. Not one of my friends like or heard of DM and wanted to go. So I guess all things considered it was a great night.
I'd love to just hang with them for a day.
You know, find out the muse behind the music.
Simplicity never seemed so easy, it would seem.
Just to be able to say. I had breakfast or something with your fave band memeber.Just being normal.
Now that would be a big thing for me

when I met David again in 1996 -- I was in McDonald's in New York and looked up to see his face smiling at me and him waving and nodding to me. I couldn't believe HE recognized ME. In any case, I came by his table and said hello to him and told him I had been doing New York theatre for awhile blah blah blah. I saw him again this year in April on the street.

I slept with Dave and Martin many years ago, I'm not proud of it but I was young and I needed the money. They were both very selfish lovers. They said they would call me the next day and they never did.

Lots of fans meet depeche mode and lots of fans have much nicer experiences than I did - believe me. There are people I'm jealous of - who got to spend a whole tour with them or watch them from the stage, etc! I'm not quite sure if Human Clone's reply was sarcastic or not towards me, but I was just trying to share my exciting experiences with you all.

have met dm a few times...
was there when martin was arrested in denver for 'disturbing the peace' or something like that at the hotel. basically he was very drunk and very loud and the neighbours kept complaining...
anyway, a question to ask dm: why they like foosball so much and who's the best at it. they bring their foosball along on every tour.
just a thought...

Oh - HA HA! I didn't do anything more than have Martin speak and joke softly in my face and ears, he is a big flirt. I work as a professional in the music industry so I was never the type to cheapen myself like that. I was with Martin and Fletch's best friend (from Basildon) so the situation was different. Although Martin did whip my butt with a leather whip! I think Dave at the time might have been trying to pick me up (who knows), as he was not married at the time, but I didn't care because I was in love with a famous playwright that I was dating at the time. Other than flirting with DM from the audience in the front row a few times, I am innocent of anything else! But I've heard many stories from fans doing things : D

I saw them few times in '98 & 2001, one time at backstage in September 2001... I don't even imagine that one of DM will speak with me, with me only :) And that "one" was Dave, he-he ;)
Dave asked me, how to say "Hallo!" on Russian ;) I said "Privet!" And after that he started to say to other Russian fans, with ĪĪĪĪing nice accent: "Privets, Privets!" ;)
Another funny episode ;) My friend present Dave beautiful red rose, Dave confused a bit, but I told him: "It's for you, but be sure - we are not gays" ;) We all laughed. ;))
You can find that backstage photo on following address:
http://www.shout.ru/exclusives/dm_meets_and_greets_moscow2001_e.htm
Right now I think I had to ask them something, something really important.... but I still think that serious questions are not suitable for backstage.
So we must to meet again........ in pub I guess ;)

Is this a funny DM story, I don't know, read on...
Unlike 7Red7, I was further down the line when 10,000 of my closest friends and I went to get our copy of Violator signed at the Wherehouse in Beverly Hills. I got into the parking structure across the street so I could watch the fun when the police were called in and the band was hauled off.
But I did work at the Wherehouse and heard this little story from one of my friends who was lucky enough to be on the inside. Apparently, one girl was still pounding on the glass of the store convinced that the band was still in the back somewhere (which they weren't). Not believing anything to the contrary, the employees took her album in the back, and had someone scribble four signatures on the album sleeve. The girl went away happy until perhaps today when she reads this...

I have never met the Mode Men, but I would say to them,"Fantastic band and sound guys...and Martin, would you take one of my poems and compose a song for one of the bands next album?...then I would pretend to faint next to Martin, making sure of arms fall around his neck..uttering his name in soft whispers.....ok,ok....can a girl dream a little?
Hey Mythuse...please find that pic of Mart, even if you have to tear down the entire house...hahahaha!!!
@Sweetest...you sound like a true Martin Gore fan!!!...ME TOO!!!...get yourself a special AV like myself and Steph....and join the fun!!!...well sort of fun, anyways stay here awhile, okay???!!!
