Erasure slam DM in music video???

I say some Erasure video on Retro Request...Im not sure wat it was called something about ''Respect'' though.

In one part of the video it looks like Vince spray piants over the ''Music For The Masses'' symbol....wat is up wit that???

It was a joke. He used to be in DM back in the early days, so he was making a friendly joke. Nothing malicious intended. I heard him talk about it once. I love that vid, my favorite Erasure video =]

I think it was just Erasure's way of saying you (DM) should give us "a little respect" for the success we're having. Back in 1988 both groups were near their peak commercially, so it was kind of the friendly competition type of thing. In fact, I've heard rumors that Vince hangs out with DM from time to time. He even attended Martin Gore's wedding sometime in the 90's. You're right intro, that is an awesome video.

Yeah that was just a friendly joke ... Vince is indeed still on friendly terms, both with DM and with Alison Moyet (in fact even going as far as to remix her "Whispering Your Name" song and giving it his own unique treatment).

"Whispering Your Name " was a fantastic remix!!! Sounded just like Yaz. It's too bad they didn't decide to do another album or even just an EP. Wishful thinking.

I agree completely, it was an inside joke for the band to get...He's good friends still with the boys in DM, and he has even toured will ALF again as yazoo I hear in the U.K...
