No, but I always wanted to crawl around in an abandoned one. Sounds like spooky fun. Btw, for really cool pics of abandoned places and mental institutes:
www.abandoned-places.com
amazing, amazing, amazing work. The first time I stumbled upon it I spent almost a day(on my slow dial-up) going through every single pic.

Hey GLo, nice question. Im sure that anyone here that has been to an institution would like to reminisce about this painful portion of the past for you smug amusement. Maybe youd like to hear some stories concerning abortion. Or maybe some about drug/alcohol addicitions as well.

hey PT, you have full permission to bite me. If someone doesn't want to talk about their past or reminisce, then guess what:
<marquee>THEY DON'T HAVE TO!!!</marquee>
this question was intended for the people who WANT to share their stories...so don't get smart with me please or we can talk and have a full discussion about your crackwhore mother who is begging to go to Springer for the free Chicago trip so she can indulge in tator tots and fish sticks. ugh.
love me :)

one more thing...for my "smug amusement"???? who the f*ck do you think you are?!
what if my intention in this question was to share stories. WHAT IF I WAS IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL and wanted to hear something familiar. WHAT IF. don't judge me if you don't know me, f*ckface.

First off... if I still had a mother... that would cut pretty deep.
Second off... why would she need a free trip to Chicago if we live 5 minutes from it?
THird off... wtf does fish sticks have to do with Chicago?

I don't know. I for one have never been in a mental institution. Though I could say with certainty that if I had been, it wouldn't be an experience I would share with someone but that's just me. I don't openly share "personal traumas". I don't know why some "random" (no offence Glo) person would want to know about such experiences. Unless of course it was a mutual experience or they were doing some sort of research. *shrug*
Don't knock Tater Tots and Fish Sticks, I like em :P

Well, that's simply because Tori fans are disfunctional. Just kidding. Yeah, I saw that movie too. Diana digs Angelina Jolie (who doesn't right?) so we usually see anything she's in. If I remember correctly, the movie was based on a true story.

Although I haven't seen Girl Interupted... I am very skeptical of how realistically accurate mental institutions are portrayed in the film.
C'mon tho... of all the movies about mental institutions flicks that are out there... you had to be influenced by this one? Go rent One Flew over the Cocous Nest or something.

Too bad she's done some horrid movies though, but not alot. I even liked Tomb Raider...while many did not. Guess I had a different perspective on the whole story....since I never played the games.

All i know about this show is that it's being held at the Hully Gully. Should be lots of fun, I hope. Seems like several of us will be there.

The line between sanity and insanity is made of dust, and we're living in a windy world. Many creative minds have been wrongfully labeled insane. Unless the person is physically dangerous, who are we to judge.

I used to work at a mental health care unit at the University of Il at Chicago Hospital. Saw some bizarre things. Some of the schizophrenics were scary. Major Depression.....very sad (no pun intended), Axis 2 disorders such as borderline personalities were bad.... all you see is knife marks on their arms. The next story is sick, this one patient was put in restraints, why? This is absolutley sick, but he used to deficate in his room.....and throw everything at the walls...... too much information. ::cringe::

damn, i came in late on this one! lol. glo, i am, -as i write this, in a residential treatment facility. ive be in two places the one here in NY, and one in Oregon. im actually a litte surprised that no one really mentioned this because im really open about it and also kinda enjoy exploiting the fact that im in a "nut hut"...however, i sense that other here are sceptical about things ive said, but i dont lie...
i was really active here a couple months ago cause i was living in a house with a computer lab in it, but now im in an apartment phase of my treatment and there is only the offices i can go to to gain access to the net...and it sucks...

Although I've had trouble with depression most of my life, I have found alternative ways of dealing with it. Exercise and sports have been my main coping mechanisms. Institutions scare the crap out of me!!! Just seeing some of those ''Institution Movies'' has scared the happiness back into me.

I spent a month in a place for teens when I was 16 for depression and um...you know...It did nothing for me, but give me a vacation from my problems and some counseling...Overall, when I got out, I still had to deal with my demons.
