I just got their single AmOK.

I'm enjoying it very much. I first heard of them after I fell in love with Butterfly Dance. One of my all time favorite to dance to......Then I got 1 of 18 angels and I have to admit I was a bit dissapointed. I don't know what to expect about their other material. Anybody into this band?

I'm not into this band but I know that they formerly composed "classical" gothic darkwave music. Their new album "Freak Perfume" is more danceable than their previous outputs. So if you aren't into gothic darkwave you should avoid their older stuff. On the other hand if you like "Freak Perfume" you should also try to listen to Diorama's "Her Liquid Arms" or "Device".

Diary of Dreams is my current favorite band. I do enjoy a lot of the Gothic music though, too. I really like them for their very emotional quality and dynamic variety of music. I have their entire discography and enjoy every CD immensely, but Cholymelon is probably my least favorite.

Watch for a review of Freak Perfume and AmOK coming up on Gothic Paradise if you're not sure if you want to buy the album yet. I know how it can be to really enjoy one song by a group, then buy the album and be disappointed. I know if you like AmOK, you'll really like O' Brother Sleep, another single out last year that is on Freak Perfume. But as is true to the DoD style, they include some mid and down-tempo more gothic-laiden ballads.

Hey SFARAH,

Diary of Dreams is a great Gothik band. Good stage show as well! Torben is a gifted artist! If you like AmOK though, you'll probably like his side project band -Diorama- ...very darkwave synth! It's brilliant! Check it out! He's got the albulm "Her Liquid Ams" and a single "Devices" It's great stuff!!

BE AT PEACE!! Nam`arie!

Hi Nam'arie,

Diorama and Diary of Dreams are two completely separate bands. Adrian Hates is the man behind Diary of Dreams and Torben Wendt is behind Diorama. Torben Wendt has participated in live performances and on a few tracks with Diary of Dreams, and Adrian Hates has helped with Diorama and they are on Adrian's label (Accession Records), but DoD has been around for many years whereas Diorama is quite new on the scene. They do have similar styles, but Adrian Hates comes from a pure Gothic Rock background as the bassist for Garden of Delight. His style has gradually progressed over the past 3 albums to be more synth/dance oriented, even though technically they use more guitars on their newer music, but processed several times over... Anyways, just need to keep it clear that Torben Wendt's Diorama and Adrian Hates' Diary of Dreams are completely different groups and not side projects.

Nam`arie Jacob,

I only stated that it was a side project because Torben is still active with Diary of Dreams to my knowledge and he's also doing Diorama! I am well aware that they are two completely different bands and I'm sorry, maybe I should have clarified that more, but I'm saying it now! Diorama is a one-man band project and DoD is a collaboration headed by Adrian! I have also been a fan for years and have all DoD albums! Sorry....SFARAH....if I misled you in any way! Diorama is new, but I think you'll like it!

BE AT PEACE! Nam`arie

thanks for the lead for some reason I always thought that Diorama was DoD under a different name. I'll check it out, and will let you know Thanks.

I saw Diary of Dreams playing in Rotterdam last year. What a great concert... One of the best stage shows I've seen, very theatralic and expressive.

It was a great evening... Also Assemblage 23 and Cut.Rate.Box played there the same night!

Was kind of neat to spot out the guys from Xymox in the crowd as well ;-)

The new album is fantastic. It's really getting much better with every release. My current favorites are 'The Curse' along with 'She and Her Darkness'.

Highly recommended...
