no $%^& way, Monolithic is performing... OMG.. I still have time to cancel my flight to FLL to catch our cruise...

Let me compare

1. Seeing Monolithic and Ganymede in solitude

or

2. Bahamas, Cozumel, The Caymans, Lobsters, tarts, lobsters, clubs at night, girls in bathing suites, thongs, lobsters, mmmmm yeahh I'll go with this one.. I'm soo shady.

J.k ofcourse I want to see Monolithic and Ganymede, I've played out both records last summer. There will be a next time.

Cheerz,

Rock on! Sometimes I just can't believe my stupid luck (or lack of). The main reason why I was heading back to CA was to pick up my car, since it died on me when heading back from SynthCon. Now though....this little trip has turned out to be a good thing...a very good thing. Can't wait to catch the show and to see everyone again. ::spreading the word::
See ya there!

AllllllllllllRIGHT! I'm excited to see all of you there! I contacted Ganymede after I started reading this thread and found out a few of you I know were attending...so this one's for you.

I even have the fabulous Megan Hallman to join me onstage! And a DM cover that I think you'll like...Monolithic style.

See ya there!

BTW: BornSlippy...I think you're making the wrong decision ;)

Allthough...girls in thongs, er I mean lobsters would definately keep me from attending my own show too. Have a great vacation...and bring back some photos will ya...of the lobsters, I mean.

Guess there was some confusion for some of you here. Michelle (my wife) stole my new avatar,...but who am I to argue. :-) Just in case any of you are wondering, that is our son in the picture....Cole.

I really wish Michelle could join us all, but someone has to take care of Cole. Hopefully at another future event she can come with.

Name tags may be a bit geeky, so here's an idea that's, well, slightly less geeky.

I was thinking of getting there shortly before 10 p.m. (cover is only $5 before then) :) and if I'm lucky enuf to snag a booth put a discrete "Electrogarden" note on the table. Saw that done a few years ago with a bunch of rabid Church fans who met at a Sunset Blvd pub just before a show at the House of Blues and it worked quite well.

I'd kinda like to meet some of the folks whose thoughts I read regularly here.

Actually, I just hope I'm awake for the show. Staying up tonight to watch the World Cup quarterfinals (Go England! Go U.S. !) and then hope to crash Fri. aft/early eve after working Fri a.m.

Few things are more important than synthpop, but this is one of them.

June 20th, 2002, 11:04 PM
Now...if only Meg and I can get a rehearsal in before tomorrow night, we'll be in good shape. ;)

I'll make a www.electrogarden.com announcement on stage, so you won't need to place a discrete "Electrogarden" note anywhere. After all, it's about supporting the scene.

All of you introduce yourselves at the show. I'd like to meet all of you fine peeps. Tell me who you are on the forum so I can place a name with a face. But most importantly, the more nutz you get at the show the more we'll get into it

See ya tomorrow,

~Midihead
June 20th, 2002, 11:11 PM
BTW:

How about a vote for a song. Since we've only got a half hour set, we won't be able to play a bunch of tunes. Therefore, I need some help in which song to keep in the linup. Ya with me?

1. "The Sound of Tears"
2. "Window of Faith"

or a cover of Mr. Mr.'s "Kyrie"

Those were the songs that I couldn't decide between. Help me out, will ya?

I was the blonde who Monolithic went around in circles with during But Not Tonight. That was sooo fun!!! I felt bad because I didn't know any of his songs other than the But Not Tonight cover. I normally do NOT like people covering my band, but he did a fabulous cover!!! He even did a Dave Gahan kind of move with hands on the mic stand. It was awesome!!! I really need to know more songs from a band before I go see them. I did buy his cd though. I will listen to it today! Monolithic was awesome! He has great stage presence.

Meg kicked serious butt on her keyboard and vocals. She was sooo funny pushing us up front during Arms. I loved her fan club's shirts. They were too cute! Meg definitely knows how to rock! I kind of wish I could be here for the Faith Assembly show on the 29th. I will be seeing mesh, so it kind of makes up for it. I do want full details on that show!! Where was Mark, by the way?

My best friend had a blast last night. I am exposing her to all the new synth out there. She definitely enjoyed Monolithic and Meg. We haven't laughed soo hard in ages! It was great!!!

My only complaint was that purple light on the floor. What's up with that? I looked like I had stuff all over my shirt, which of course I didn't. I think the next time I go there, I am wearing a white t shirt.

Greetings Dan! I don't know if we've met yet, chances are I'd know you if I saw you (I was at Synthcon as well on day 2 and 3, sitting at one of the back tables with the Cohaagen/Ninthwave people).

It'd be great to have you there on the 16th of August! By the way Fr/action was recently added to the bill, so I am excited about that as well. For those that have not yet heard 'Fr/action' (melodic futurepop), they can be heard right here at EGN in the artists section.

It seems that the Hully Gully has done a lot of synthpop hosting lately eh? ;)

Take care,

Hey StphLadd,
I'm almost pretty sure that the song they were playing before Monolithic took the stage was a B!Machine song. Which one I'm not sure. I just remember Meg looking at me and asking "Didn't we just hear this in the car?". You might want to look through some of his songs on mp3.com. Might be on there.

Something tells me I should just go and move to California...since I go there for way too many shows. hehehe.
It's late, and I have to go...so I'll post some more later.

Thank you for answering me. I have Infinity Plus and a few other songs on compilation cds, so I will check those out. I do know I have heard the song. I just can't remember who it is.

I am almost positive the song is Opal. I do remember the word blue being mentioned and he says:" I am tracing the bluest vein." The voice was deep and his is deep. I am just going to say that this is the song and stop driving myself crazy.

Thanks for the help :D

StphLadd: Just FYI, dunno if you know, but Monolithic does have But Not Tonight on CD. Well, it was Paradigm that released it and it was on that DM tribute. 'Your World In Our Eyes' i think it was.

HullyGully: I did not like the bartender. toooooo pushy. even after I bought my first drink. I had to hold an empty bottle for 1/2 hour so she wouldn't come back. geez.

Dan, it was great meeting you as well, and I would have introduced myself sooner, but I didn't know you were YOU! And Monolithic Mike and Dave from Ganymede - nice talking to you as well. And thanks BC (aka Synthpopolooza) for mentioning I was going to be there! I should've checked this thread before the show and I could've posted that I was going.

And Glo, thanks for meeting up with me at the show (with your sis and Sonya too) - it was nice to have someone to sit and chat with before the show - although i think I got there a bit too early - way before you did.

Anyway, the turnout was a bit of a disappointment, but both bands sounded great just the same.

And Dan, you know I'll be there for your show in August. And I'll bring Susan too (my NURVIS vocalist) so you can meet her.

What's this?

A NukleoN and Fr/action show at the Hully Gully?

Not fair! I wish I could get to LA and see these shows ... but the way my car is, I can't even get to Knoxville without a ride now, let alone Hollywood.

I am glad everyone had a good time. I was there in spirit if nothing else. :)

Funny you should mention that because Tenessee has one well kept secret that will not stay a secret for long. If you haven't already discovered VENUS HUM, this is a good time to find out about them. More info can be found at: www.venushum.com
I'm a big fan of theirs cause their music just kicks butt.
Wish they would play around here.

Tennessee synthpop? Yeah we got it, sort of ... Okay, maybe we don't have a lot in the way of a synthpop scene (what with Dollywood, The Grand Ole Opry, and me actually living in the same town as Kenny Chesney) but we are trying.

ENTROPY64 - from Nashville. Great bunch of guys. http://www.entropy64.com

OTHERNESS - also from Nashville. http://mp3.com/otherness

OCCUPANT - from my hometown of Knoxville, robotic Devo new wave. http://mp3.com/occupant ... they contributed "Stand Strong" to the recent USA Tribute CD.

Also, female vocalist Lindy Gerlach (from Nashville) contributed vocals on the Audity CD "The Language I Think In" on N-Soul records, in 2000. At least two of the tracks (Wandering Mind and Safe and Sound) could arguably be considered within the synthpop genre. http://mp3.com/lindygerlach ... Midihead: If you are reading this, check her out, because a lot of her stuff is right up your alley.

If you go into bordering states, then you get into Red Square (Atlanta, GA), Motoya (North Carolina) and Peter Trepan (from Alabama).

And then, there's the SynthetiK project I am attempting to start, with a bit of help from my friends ... right Dan? :)

Okay, a question regarding Venus Hum ...

How do I contact the band? The e-mail address given just bounces back at me. :(

That's a very good question. At one point I was in touch with their manager, but I haven't been able to get ahold of them in awhile. I think you can still contact them though via their Yahoo Group list, or via mp3.com...under CONTACT THE BAND...or whatever that feature is called.
Last time I heard from them, they were working hard on either a new album or remastering their current album..or something. I think they got signed. This was a few months ago.
Hope that helps.

Aren't I a clever cookie? I just did a whois on the domain name ... it turned up not only an e-mail address, but also a postal address and a phone number! This is just way cool ...

I am very pleased to hear they got signed ... I wonder which label?

Also, I noticed they play shows in Nashville, so I am going to try to hook them up with my friends Entropy64 ... another Nashville europop band with female fronted vocals. This could rock.

Thanks for the tip Noirtech

No problem. Glad I could help. Guess if they don't come this way to play, I could always just fly over there. I do have friends in that State.....right Burt? :-)
I'll have to keep an eye out on concert dates. Hope you all do catch them live, and report back. I want to know how they are live.

I just rang up the guy from Venus Hum (Tony Miracle) and he has indicated that indeed he might be bringing them out here to Knoxville to play some shows! This rocks ... if I get to see them I will let you know how they are live. I am hoping I can get my friends in Entropy64 to come along too, from what I have heard they really do an awesome live show (Coleen Curtis is the synthpop Stevie Nicks) ...

How did you get his contact information? I need to get ahold of them to see if they want to come down to AZ. You have a working email address for Tony? I tried before, but back then, they were really busy, and their manager did not email me back. Hopefully they will have time now.
