Did anyone get to witness the incredible performance of B!Machine at last year's SynthCon 2k1? It was awesome! I heard that he's living in Japan now for a little while! Does anyone know if this is really true?

Nate did a great set at last years SynthCon, it was such a pleasure to host it. Dare I say he is even better live than on cd?
I am unsure if he moved to Japan or not but you could always drop him an e-mail and ask him wishduck@worldnet.att.com

B!Machine rules! He was one of the main reasons I came out to Synthcon2k1! Wasn't disappointed either! Nice chap as well! Hearing him live was like listening to my B!Machine cd's in the dark in the wee hours! Thanks Seraphim! I'll drop Nate an -e- and see what he's up to and where he is at the moment!

I know that at the time of last years SynthCon, Nates wife was expecting. She was due any day then and yet Nate still made time to come down from San Francisco and play a set for his fans. Now THATS love. Anyway, considering that child would be about a year old now, I doubt that Nate would have picked up and moved off to Japan. Unless of course he took the whole family, which I guess he could have. Never mind, I'm babbling. Happy to help.

Yeah I heard that! That's why he left the next morning straight away after performing and wasn't at the rest of the show! Maybe Todd would know huh?

all i have is the DVD to go by but my appraisal of him was that he's a fairly talented singer, has a cool approach to doing the one man show, and his interview really portrayed a class-act. (sort of the type of 30-somethingish guy balancing music with a real-life with grace... good role model type personality)
mind you i draw inferences because we're all looking for heroes.

i believe he's still in school but i can't say for sure. he was studying the japanese language or something? as todd pointed out to me nate rarely goes online and has an ancient computer that might not even handle these forums lol. i sure wish he'd play with us though =(

I was at that show. I have to admit that I was never really a B!Machine fan....until THAT night. Same effect as FreezePop had on me this year. Since then, I've bought every single B!Machine release. Good stuff.

Wow, still in school and living in Japan. Cool....
I'm trying to arrange life so I can go back to school (Music School). School... When I left college at age 23 I couldn't wait to get into the work force and start an Internet company. That went well, gladly, but ever since the collapses I realize that the computer industry is some pretty dry stuff!!!
I went from being a good musician that knows a lot about computers to a pretty good Engineer/Consultant that knows a lot about Music. But I studied music in college because I DIDN'T WANT TO BE STUCK BEHIND A COMPUTER ALL DAY.
Then the Internet hit and I thought it was my gateway to the combined career. Ha! I was wanted for my technical skills. The fact I had creative abilities always took second fiddle in the eyes of management. (Still does)
Despite rumors to the contrary there's very little CREATIVITY to 99.9% of the engineering/design that goes into technology. That's an ideal. It's a dream. People that left school with Liberal Arts degrees and went into computer programming bought themselves a bill of goods never really delivered on.
Granted. The people that have ideals about how computers should be manipulated WANT it to be a creative endeavor and strive to create ways to make it that way... in the end... they end up being machines that you have to fight daily to keep someone richer than you happy.
Why did this suddenly become about me? It's not, actually just some jumbled up thoughts... I get little hits of inspiration when I read through the online writing of some of the artists on here.
Back to the topic. I checked out B!Machine's website for the first time. Impressive guy! I really dig his Man vs. Machine "aestetic". He does it rather freshly.
