View Full Version : Sex with Synthpop

~DavidMDiggler
June 4th, 2002, 08:30 PM
What's up. Anyone purposely play certain Synthpop during sex, either with a bf/gf, husband/wife, or just random hook-ups? Indulge...

I remember playing Distain!'s entire "Homesick Alien" CD one time, skipping like a song or two, good stuff to have playing in the background during.

And of course, you hear from a lotta girls how Depeche Mode is the ultimate aphrodisiac. Take "I Want You Now" for example, track 7 off of Music For The Masses. PERFECT...I don't see how someone could disagree...

De/Vision's "Fairyland" or "Void"...

Infam's "To Die For"...

etc...

Oh, and both of POE's albums are awesome for it too, as are Madonna's "Erotica" and "Bedtime Stories"...

ANy Nine Inch Nails album always did the trick...

along with

Toy
Mesh <-- especially
HMB
Haujobb

hehe... on a funny sidenote... I tried to have sex during a party with Ich Will Dich by Wumpscut playing so my friends wouldnt think twice about what they were hearing from the bathroom.

that didnt fly too well.. :-P

Keeping this one as clean as possible, I've personally never indulged with synthpop in the background...Hmmm a good idea though...

Reminds me of my first time...

I figured Closer would be a cool one to lose it to so I started two songs earlier. To say the least... I never made to Closer. Man did I suck... :-(

I have to agree with you, meg... Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Bel Canto (mm... "Unicorn")... This is really good. I would also recommend putting on the "Felt Mountain" album by Goldfrapp ;-)

I'd have to say, all time fav has got to be B! Machine. That voice.. *swoon*. Although Leiahdorus might soon take that #1 spot. heheh. I dunno, something about a sexy male voice while having fun.. *ahem*

I like to have sex and watch tv at the same time. I'm good at multi-tasking (kidding). I prefer instrumental stuff otherwise I sing along and that is enough to put anybody out of the mood.

nowadays it's silence. dunno why but it seems to work well that way.

very strange considering my background. sensory overload? too much pot in college? inability to relax enough to NOT concentrate on the music too much?

not sure.

not quite sure why women in their 20s are so interested in men in their 30s. we certainly lose our romantic edge when we get into serious careers and have our minds on a million other things.

(I shouldn't generalize, that's probably not all that correct)

I do think the most ROMANTIC album in my collection is Gone to Earth by David Sylvian. It definately worked well in college a few times.

and thats about all for now.

*too much information*

Hmmm, even though my choices aren't 'synthpop'....

VNV Nation - The slower tracks such as 'Beloved' and 'End of Days'

Front Line Assembly - Tracks like 'Everything Must Perish', 'Mindphaser' and 'Synthetic Forms'

Decoded Feedback - Anything goes

Angels & Agony - Most Everything

And of course, U2!!!!

I'm obviously not the most romantic person in the world....

Oh, and Faith Assembly's Red Ambition would be perfect. At least I think it would be fitting...

I agree with Meg on the Cocteau Twins, and Never Worship on U2 (Unforgettable Fire...)... as for synthpop, if Duran Duran counts...

But to really make things interesting, two words:

~DavidMDiggler
June 7th, 2002, 01:48 PM
Mesh is one of my favorite bands of all time, but much of their lyrical content deals with getting f'ed over by girls. So....for sex....I'm not quite sure if it's fitting. I know I wouldn't want to play "You Didn't Want Me" or "It Scares Me" or "The Damage You Do" or "Trust You" or etc...

But maybe you guys think the music is sooo powerful - which it is - that you can not really pay attention to the lyrics while it's playing and your doing your thing...and maybe that's true. But I still think when the lyrics are seductive/lustful/passionate/romantic, that it's better.

ElectoM, what public places have you tried, and what type of girl would you say you are then. As for me, I only did it once in public, in the stands at my college soccer stadium, but it was 11 at night and dark and no one was around, so it wasn't all that risky. And for some reason, I always think most people on this thing are guys, I don't know why. Now I know you're a girl. There should be a gender label somewhere...but this was already discussed months ago...and most people didn't seem to care, but it'd be nice to know.

I think the person who said mesh was referring to their more tender songs. I am thinking of I Can't Imagine How It Hurts and Safe With Me. Those songs are emotional and I for one would think that they would work. That's just me though.

June 9th, 2002, 02:09 AM
Hey the "Damage You Do" , "Self Healing Lie" and " It Scares Me" by Mesh would all rock as Synthpop Sex Songs .... some of the best emotions come from the dark side of love and can be transferred into sexual energy .... just my point of view of course.

Well maybe not synth but they sure work fine if you want to get creative.....girls that don't even really like this music love them!!

B-tribe
Agricantus
Madredeus
Dead can Dance
Ekova
Natasha Atlas
copilation: Dreamworld
TIMECODE soundtrack by Mike Figgis is VERY erotic.

If you want to get romantic and cheesy though listen to the "Amelie" soundtrack. Then as things progress switch to the above.

David: I did it on many places, for example: park, in front of my school, behind some building in the downtown, cinema, school bathroom...
I know that that's not normal but it wasn't my choice, back then I was with guy who would beat the hell out of me if I wouldn't do everything he said.

i would said I'm totally normal girl, not some slut or whatever.

That's just sad. I hate to hear things like this. No one, girl or guy, deserves to be treated like that. I know I don't know you, but I am glad that you are out of that situation. You're better than that, than him. Obviously he had a lot of issues he couldn't deal with.

OH, and EM. I'm sorry you had a period of life that delivered that sort of pill to swallow. That sucks. :(

I'm not a religious person or a prude but when it comes to this particular topic I'm pretty glad that none of my REALLY bad memories in life are tied directly to the act of sex. To bad relationships, yes, sex... no... my bad relationships didn't have much sex.

Human Clone: My name is David. My middle name is Michael. So...DavidM...and the Diggler? You said it. Not my real last name of course, but from the movie Boogie Nights. Good call. Some people who know the name call me Dirk at parties, messing around, but not many. In any case, 1) ElectroM, good thing you're not with NymphoAbusoBoy anymore. I real man doesn't have to beat a woman to convince her to have sex in wild places. He just has to use his lustful and exciting influence...or something like that. 2) I never had anything close to getting BJ's in high school bathrooms or anything of the sort. College though is a somewhat different story. In the end, it's all about finding yourself and finding someone you love, to share your life with. So beautifully said. And last, PTInc, excellent point. You would hope she wouldn't be bored enough to absorb all the lyrics and their meaning. Even better, you'd preferably want her to be like, "You were just playing music? I didn't even notice!"...but then again, all worthy girls would notice the incredible music of Mesh and other great Electrogarden-ish bands....no matter how great the sex. The end.

Hrm. Well, there is no Miss Introvert, but if there was, she and I would be getting it on to stuff like the following:

Depeche Mode - Violator
Recoil - Liquid
B! Machine - Aftermath
Schiller - Weltreise (not ALL of it, just some)
Delerium - Karma

And just about anything electronic but mellow. I like low BPM laid back stuff. Guess I'm the romantic type who likes to take his time.
