Ok, this clip was floating around in alt.music.synthpop years ago... it popped up from time to time, and NO ONE was EVEr able to identify it. I've had good luck with this group, though... maybe one of you will be able to identify it...

I know the quality is bad, but I guess someone had it taped from the radio, and made it into a wav file from that. I can't mp3 it, audiocatalyst wants it to be 16bit stereo, etc... but the wav file is pretty small. You can get it here:

So... I hope someone can identify this.. or at least has some idea. Sounds like a great song.

Perfidious Words demo. The lead sounds much like Lars, and the chorus "I will be there for you" sounds like Drazen, therefore I will guess that this is the infamous demo made in 1996, before releasing their "Ruined" single. This supposed demo was never officially released. I've forwarded this to them to verify it for you. It may take a few days to confirm, unless anyone else has more information.

Are you sure Olmek? I think my copy of this file dates back to 1995, have to check at home tonight. That would be truly awesome if this is right, I've been wondering too about this one for the longest time!

Now if only we could have a cd-quality copy of it...

I may be a little off on the date, 1995 is possible, but "1996" was the year advertised from the following source:

There actually was a CD copy of that demo on www.musicstack.com about three and half years ago, but the greedy (TotalRecal.de, I beleive) were selling it for $87.00 (US)!!!

I've closely studied the lyrical style and vocal ranges of Perfidious Words, and can say that the sample submitted above resembles them over the other few candidates I initially had in mind.

Like I said, I'll post the answer when I get if from Lars.

I checked it out and I agree, I'd go with Perfidious Words...It's really rough, but I can swear thats Drazen :)

Hmm, I have never heard that before. Very Gahan-esque vocals.

Hi OLMEK,

thank you for your comments on our music and supporting us for so long! Of course it is ok to order our cds via a different drum.

I just listened to the sample/fragment and (unfortunately) I have to say it is no perfidious words track. Although I 'd like it to be one of ours ;-)
I have no idea who sings this song...If you find out, please send me a short message, because it really sounds great! (reminds me of dm's some great reward)

Well Olmek that's it for today.

All the best, Lars.
Greetings from Drazen.

Sorry for my erroneous assumption you guys. I've tried typing in a few verses I was able to decipher from the sample in order to see if I could match it up with any published lyrics that were on the internet, but nothing would match up. Hopefully, one day we can finally solve this little synthpop puzzle. :)

to me the vocals really sound like KieTheVez, except for when the chorus(?) comes in. seems like it could also be early Cause & Effect.
man this is really gonna bother me till I find out what it is.

don't we even have a song title or anything?

Very good track there ...

I am wondering, could this be the largely anonymous German band Sea of Sin? This was an act whose very origins themselves were shrouded in secrecy, all that is known is that they produced an underground release in 1995 which is all but out of print ... and that Synthphony Records licensed another release for the USA, one which was produced by Heiko Maile from the legendary German group Camouflage.

Sea of Sin mp3's off this release are available at http://www.mp3.com/synthphony ... the style sounds somewhat similar anyway.

nope, not Sea of Sin, I have both their albums and it's nothing like it. I didn't think it was in the first place. I still think those vocals have to be KieTheVez. I can't think of anyone else who sounds like them.

sounds a bit like Joy Machine but probably not.. this sounds more "European". Nice song though, very Some Great Rewardish.

Actually there is another band that has a voice and sound similiar to Jesper Palmqvist and Kiethevez. That band is Vision system. They´re from Sweden just like Kiethevez and it sound pretty much like them.

They have released two ep:s. One in 1994 and one in 1996.

Aaaah, Vision System, one of my favorite bands ever. Too bad they're not with us anymore.

I believe I have all of their demos and this isn't the band we're looking for here. Completely different style.

I'm praying to all the synthpop Gods in heaven above - we *need* to know what this track is!
