So what's the big deal with "Groups"? Why not just have a section in the forums that deals with those specific things? Are there benefits to having a Group instead of a forum section devoted to those discussions?

Well Groups are supposed to be more exclusive for people that really want to have niche discussions among themselves. The forums are open to all and the Groups you need to join, which is just a click unless they are not public. Groups can be made private so that only certain members can join by invite, I think. Other then that you can do the same things in both pretty much.

Hey NoirTech, can you imagine some of the crap that would of been going on if we had groups back in 2001/2002 EGN. LMAO You know there would have been several of these cliques in place fast.

hahahaha. no doubt.
Maybe I'll start a new group and experiment with them. That's a new forum feature I have not used before since I never really see the benefit of it since you don't get notifications. I do see the benefit of having a private one though. Hmmm.

Sure thing. Experiment away. I will look into notifications, maybe it is a setting somewhere. I would think though that since the group runs like one long thread that they may have disabled it since any one posting would fire an email to all members in the group each time which would be nuts if the groups was large and people posting all the time.

If you have suggestions on anything with that just let me know too :)

i think notifications with option to turn it off is needed.
right now i need to keep checking that link to see if anything new is happening.

I think they need to attract more people that are interested in posting on a daily basis or whether you call it threads or groups or whatever is irrelevant since there is not enough activity to make any difference.
