I think us all that have MySpace or Facebook profiles should post a message/bulletin with the EGN Forum's link.

I think we are doing just about everything that is possible at the moment.

We have sent several myspace bulletins but these receive almost no reponse. Posted advert comments on our friends list which seems to work a little, and I think that was how most of the people in the current group found us. We pay for Google advertising and some other traffic options too, and people visit as a result of all those actions for sure, but they do not end up on the forums and they do not register and join in actively. So we put our money down on the line here too.

Sigh... We'll keep on looking for ways to to bring more new people here, but you have to understand that it is extermely tough these days. Most people do not want to take the time to post or get involved anywhere at all and those that do already have a place where they spend their posting time. Places like myspace and several others like it have made it impossible to stand out with features and options since they already have the whole logged in planet in their membership and people do not want to bother with other sites, especially when there is not even a fraction of the activity that myspace has grown into.

In short, today's Internet is saturated with sites and to gather up a new, active community from pretty much zero like we are doing now is something that we have been struggling to accomplish for quite a while now. It is sad and daunting and it would have been nice to have the group that was here 4 years ago just come again and start where they left off, but remember that EGN has been back online for 2 years now since we logged off, and it is clear that this is not how this site will evolve. EGN is almost entirely a new slate both with the features and with the people that are here now, and hopefully we can continue to attract more cool people to spend time with us online so we can continue to grow.

But EGN will continue to push this, and pull that, and try anything and everything that we can think of to grow the site, that much you can bet on.

Any suggestions are welcome, of course. :)

So you all are noticing traffic coming in, but not into the forum section? I think that is what I understood. I hope my comments I sent to you help in some way. I'll see what I can do from my side, but the comments you made here are pretty spot on. It's a very hard fight going uphill from here.

Yes, we have good traffic on the artist (Music Network) side of things. Pretty steadily artists join up and upload music, etc., lots of bandwidth getting pulled daily for streaming music and videos that are hosted there, but yea as far as getting involved in the forums and community setcion, it is happening very slowly, and maybe that is ok.

We still have lots of tricks up our sleeve to engage in though, and certainly direct help from current members is far quicker than any bulk advertising that we do. I do not think that there is any one thing that needs to happen but rather to continue to work several approaches and with some luck things may start to achieve critical mass.

I've tried to look up people to come on and hang out here but maybe I am too old or something as my friends are not really doing anything like that online.

Then again, most of them do not work in front of a computer all day as I do :).

Yes, it does help being in front of a computer all day long.

Amazing what a MySpace bulletin can get accomplished. I did it before going to lunch, and I now see new people joining up. Sweet!

Man that was cool. I complained and we got some more members and posts.
I fully understand how hard it is to do this and was really just playing around so I hope no one got mad.
Either way it is great to see some new members and threads from others on here.

Yes. People should do the same and post a bulletin. Come on...it ain't hard to do. :)

Looks like your bulletin did pretty good. A good rise in registrations for one day :).

Too bad there was not much of interest to the new people to post in so many of the threads that are floating around. Just introductions and hellos. Maybe they'll come back and plug in more and get into it or maybe our topics suck :).

It will be tough, but it sounds like they are going to just keep pluging it along and maybe something will break. I am not sure what that really means, like how many members or threads or posts per day. What is the marker for "making it" anyway?

I honestly do not think that it is all that slow as it is. I usually find something that I want to comment on and there are several threads and posts to go through daily so I keep coming back.

That's a very good question. I guess the goal would be something like it was before. Even 1/2 of the way it was before would be a great improvement to what it is now. The information that was being spread back then was incredible.

It's going to be real tough when members are not into posting more than once or twice before signing off for long periods of time. If you find even a small group where people have topics in common and the discussion flows then things can flourish. Otherwise it goes nowhere.

MiscGenius

no kidding
we need to get more members that want to talk about anything and keep coming back
that is mostly what the topics are
just generic discussions
there are really only a few here that come back daily and post

The few and the proud. Huh?
We need like a huge Iraq War or Politics or Gay Marriage or Abortion or something like that thread where it all goes to hell and gets nasty.

From other forums I can tell you that flame wars bring more action than anything else.

Maybe we should switch to a Porno niche' since that would open a much broader pool of customers :)

I wish I could spend more time here, like in the good old days. But everything needs my time nowadays, or at least, so it seems. We need young people with nothing better to do!! :)

Oh come on, you don't have time to add some comments to the miley cirus thread, or better yet the penis theft thread, lol. Post something once a day, it will make you feel better. :)

Nice try.

It will take more than that to make them peoples post here. How about some giveaways or whatever.

it is simple
a clique would rather be together
in an old tent than be alone
in a palace
collect the clique and you win

Wow.

I'm here basically just for the forums. I didn't know you could upload music and the like.
That's cool though cause I use other sites for that stuff... (obviously)

I suppose my myspace page could use a revamping.. not that I get alot of hits or anything, but I like an active forum as much as the next guy.
