Is the Calendar feature in EGN somehow tied with the Event feature, or are they seperate and require two different logins?

The EVENTS and all items in that menu line are from the Music Network which is a seperate login and setup. The menu line below is the Community features which includes the forums and groups and blogs. The Music Network and Commnity are totally seperate, at least for now since they are completely different scripts and databases.
There are some overlaps in features between the two like Blogs and Friends can be setup on both and customized profiles etc. so they do overalp. The Music Network even allows forums per each profile but is mostly setup for artists to host and sell music, and members can setup myspace like profiles and manage radio stations etc.
Lots of stuff there to play with :)

Ok. Cool.
So when posting about shows that I'm bringing to my neck of the woods, I guess the best place to put them would be under EVENTS and not in Calendar. Correct? I mean, if I had to pick one, ...events would be the way to go.
Guess I'll go create a login for the Music Network soon. :)

That would be fine since most of the artists and music type traffic is on that part of the site. :) If you plan on entering events you should create an artist account and then you can also upload dj mixes, etc.

If I open an artist account, I would then have to manage two accounts, with one of them having the extra artist feature correct? Is there a way to modify my current account from the backend to an artist account? I ran into this situation with MySpace a few years when they started implementing the artists profiles. I just didn't have the time to be updating two profiles. If possible, I would really like to just have this one converted. If not possible, I'll look into the alternative.
Vicky, thanks so much for all your efforts.

Unfortunately the account on this Community section is not related to the Music Network so I could not modify this account in that way. I checked and it looks like you have not created an account on the Music Network unless you used a different login there so you would need to create an account there to use those features. So yea, right now to enable everything you would have 2 logins.
I am sure that as this part of the site grows and we see how and what feature are getting used that it will get integrated at some point.

Ah. I keep forgetting that the Music Network and the Community section are separate, even though you just told me exactly that a few posts back. hehehe.
Ok, I'll go ahead and do that and keep it consistent with the same name. Thanks for answering all my questions. I hope that if others have these same questions, they will find these posts helpful in some way.

I was wondering what all that other stuff is. Thanks for the info. Maybe I need to setup an account on that other side of the world :)

So it took me a few minutes to figure out how to post an event. I thought that I would be able to go to the EVENTS link, and click on an ADD button or something similar. After digging through the area a bit, I realized that I have to go to CONTROL PANEL>CALENDAR:CREATE EVENT. Is this the only way to add an event or am I missing something here? Just curious cause the UI wasn't very clear.

Yes, for artist events and all other profile stuff like cusomizations and adding music or biog or creating and managing your radio station it is all done through the control panel or admin interface if you want to call it that. These updates then go to the live site that everyone can see.
