So what do you recommend? Lots of choices and some are really expensive. I wanted something that also has some decent sounds too so not purely a signal sender. Good keys are also improtant for easier playing and expression.

I have no idea. I have 3 Roland AX-7's and a cheesy Kawai thingy. The only advice I have is: do better than I did. Perhaps a Kurzweil K2600?

ive been looking into making my own midi controller - you can get kits online that you can pretty much do what you like to =)
i think thats gonna be a little summer project for me =)

the novation xiosynth is not to bad really cheap for what you get, audio interface works to very low latency, the synth is classic novation, not used any of the controller stuff yet but ableton will soon be hooked up to the touch pad. only downside is the build quality, but when you consider what you get they had to cut corners somewhere to get these things out at the price they do. i got the 49 key job a few months ago for £189, money very well spent :thumbup1:
