Yeah And One is definitely one of my faves.

I would recommend getting "Nordhausen", which has "Sometimes" and some other great songs as well. I've always liked "Sitata Tirulala", "Friends in Heaven", "Creatures", etc. Ah hell that's easily one of my favorite And One CDs.

I would also recommend getting the newest album "Virgin Superstar". It's a little different from previous And One offerings, but has a high degree of polish in every song, though I would never have said that the last few And One albums lacked polish.

Also pick up some singles for the excellent mixes and and B-sides for which And One is known.

Another one that stands out recently is And One's mix of Project Pitchfork's "Timekiller". Excellent stuff.

Enjoy.

Look at the name....

hehe...

Virgin Superstar is my favorite album by them for some reason.

Don't get their re-interpretation of Cleen's "The Voice", its kind of gross.

Oh you didn't like And One's re-interpretation of "The Voice"? God, I thought it was MUCH better than Cleen's version. Cleen sucks big time in my opinion :)

First, I definitely have to agree with Shryke on "The Voice" remix. Steve Naghavi (And One vocalist) is not only a magnificent singer, but he has a superb talent for song production and/or reproduction.

For the most Synthpop fans who aren't already familiar with And One, I would recommend getting the following albums in this order:

1. Nordhausen
2. Virgin Superstar
3. Best of.....
4. I.S.T.
5. 9.9.99
6. Spot
7. Anguish
8. Flop!

If by some chance you don't believe this is one of the best Synthpop Bands in the world by the time you reach #3, then you might not want to bother getting the rest. I find that either only the truest fan, or EBM/Industrial enthusiasts would care for the older material.

You mean THE best electropop act in the world, and a great live band too! I agree with OLMEK's list also, although I would put "I.S.T." in 3rd place. "Nordhausen" is definitely the best introduction to them though, an instant classic. And One is a great example of why Germany (and Europe for that matter) by far leads the world when it comes to putting out great electropop music. If that CD doesn't get you hooked there's gotta be something wrong with you.

Hello MaxMode,

Glad to hear you enjoyed "Nordhausen"! How 'bout "Und Dafur"? One of the best instrumentals ever made in my opinion.

Depending on what your tastes are like, you may or may not like "Virgin Superstar" better. It is their most "commercial" album. They leave out their trademark instrumentals and quirky songs in favor of straightforward electropop/electro songs from beginning to end . I like it second best. Still, you can't wrong with classics like the title track, 'Goodbye Germany', and 'Wasted', to name a few.

Hey MaxMode,

I need not tell you that the whole And One collection is worth getting. However, you might want to approach their first two CDs, "Anguish" and "Flop!" with caution. Although I think they're quite entertaining and definitely worth getting, a lot of fans don't like them as much because they lean heavily towards the electro/ebm side and the melodies were not as developed and creative. After "VS" I highly recommend "I.S.T.", it's their best CD from the Machinery years and was my fave until "Nordhausen" came along. "9:9:99 Uhr" is their most experimental album and quite possibly their quirkiest. The songs win you over after a few listens, though. "Spot" was the album where they made the transition to a more developed electropop sound. Definitely get the singles for "Life Isn't Easy in Germany" and "Techno Man". They blow away the album versions.

BTW, I see you're from Miami Beach. I'm originally from Pembroke Pines and I'll be going there for a visit the first week of August.

I forgot to mention the "Monotonie" EP. Released between "Flop!" and "Spot", this CD is definitely electro oriented, but it has some harder, melodic, dancefloor fillers like "Turn the Nation" and "Monoton". This one is a must!

Yes! Miami beach, a very cool! place, but unfortunaly I'm moving to Orlando next sunday. I've been living here for 3 years allready, great! whether, great! beach, great clubs but not to much Synthpop. I'm definitely gonna miss it, but I've been tranfered to Orlando, You Know! the Hotel buisiness. Anyways!! yeaap!! I'm getting that "I.S.T" CD, I'll keep your advise, and also Those singles. The only song that I realy try to like everyday but I can't It's "sweety Sweety" It' just doesn't apeal to me at all, but the rest of that Album is Just amazing!!! Anyways can you please tell me a little about this band, and that so Spectacular!! lead singer. I was trying to read some of their biografy but everything is in German, and I hardly can read English, jaja!! and tell me what other bands are your favorite??

Yeah Monoton is a cool song, definitely :)

For those of you who just started listening to And One, you might enjoy Melotron as well. They're really not much alike, but that's a band that just sprang into my mind as another incredibly good band. Melotron's lyrics are all in German, and they've got a great sense of melody. Get E.P.Sode 3 if you get a chance, if only for
"Alles von Dir". Then I would REALLY recommend picking up Fortschritt. Really good stuff. Enjoy.

Hey There Shryke,

Yes, "Alles von Dir" is the best song on "E.P.sode 3". "Forschritt" is a decent second CD, but it gets blown away by their debut "Morderwerk". That one has been on my top 5 list for the past two years. It has amazing tracks like "Sennsucht", "Glohendes Spiel", and "Kindertraum" (although the single v. 2.0 is better). It's been out of print for a while, so if you can get your hands on it, it's a must. When Melotron first came out the hype on them was they sounded like And One, but that's not very accurate. They have their own style and it's one that definitely grabs you right away.

I think one of AND ONE'S best songs is "Deutsche Maschine", but hey I like it hard and dark.
