Hey Glo,

That is awesome that you and meg are putting this group together. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

If you are looking for synths, check eBay. I just got one from there at a reasonable price. At least it's a place to start.

Good luck you two.

i wonder if the guy-bands have fashion coordinaters???

something to ponder...

that's very sweet of her... i hope that doesn't mean that i looked bad on stage this past time!!! have i been pulled over by the fashion police???

hee hee!

If the guy bands don't have fashion coordinators, maybe they should??? At least, some of them . . . .

You looked marvelous on stage, love. But Marie's a professsional designer and wants to be involved with your project, but has no musical talent whatsoever. She could maybe shake a tamborine, but would probably fall down while doing it . . . . (She says she'd be Melody from Josie and the Pussycats, but with far less talent or coordination. Never having watched either Josie OR the Pussycats, I cannot comment on that. :p )

Besides, it's really just another excuse for her to go shopping in LA again next year.

Ebay has quite a few going right now but they are still in the low to mid thousands. Korg Tritons are hot right now and they do so much. You might have to scale your wish list down some. There are still a lot of good synths in the $500.00 range. Roland XP 10 for example. $459.00 from Musicians Friend. or even less used.

Hope that helps.

To read up on various older synths that won't break the bank (Well....some of them) check www.vintagesynth.com:nod:

Thanks Eric...

I will never buy something that expensive from Ebay...that's too scary! :( But yes, I love the Triton...i go to Mars Music all the time just to play it...I'll check out the others you suggested...thanks a bunch...

Hey Eric...what kind of Korg are you talking about with the price range of $400-$600?

Glo,

Here's the official spiel about the X5D: ($599.99)

"Small synth price, big synth capability. With 64 voices and oscillators (single mode), 32 voices and 64 oscillators (double mode), and 61 velocity-sensitive keys with modulation and pitch wheels (backed with 8MB waveform memory), you get a lot of bang for the buck. 430 multi and 215 drum/percussion sounds with 64-note polyphony handle highly complex passages. 2 independent, multi-effects processors have 47 effect types such as delay, reverb, distortion, and rotary speaker which let you precisely shape sounds. 128 GM plys 8 drum (one MIDI) programs allow easy song playback. Saves up to 100 original and 100 combination programs".

That's the deal. Sounds like a killer synth to me! If you want to see a photo, log onto www.musiciansfriend.com and put this number in the search:

Hi Glo,
Any luck on the QUEST FOR KORG? I just got my Yamaha DX21 and I'm having much fun learning how to program it and writing songs.

I hear you. The only way I was able to get new equipment was to sell lots of stuff on eBay. I keep trying to win the lottery but nothing yet!! ;)
