So I was listening to Sirius 22 the other day, it is a New Wave station with lots of 80's and 90's synth style music and the dj there said that he has known DM personally for a long time, was in the 101 movie, blah blah but the main point of his comment was that he belives that Dave was going to go on tour but the sales of his album were not what was hoped for so the group is/may be getting together to do another album.
Good news potentially.

Let's hope for some new music from DM. I'm not really happy with the last album, even though it had some good parts.

I am sure we will hear about that soon if that is the case.
Could be a good thing :) I liked several songs by them.

This is good news for me, obviously. I hope that they take their time and put out a solid record. The solo careers are never quite what the band manages to put out as a single unit. This is perhaps one of the reasons they have been so successful. Some combinations are just right.

I recently read an interview with Dave Gahan on the New York Post website where the closing paragraphy said:
"Diehard Depeche fans don't fret about Gahan's solo record being the harbinger of a band breakup. The group has announced it's heading back into the studio in the new year. "I just wanted to prove myself outside my day job," Gahan confessed."
Be that good or bad, we'll have to wait and see.

they have alot of good songs thanks to martin
if he is the main writer on this new one as usual then it should be a good record
they can take their time and maybe come up with something slick to gain new fans too since most of their fans are old fans from years ago.

Ahhh. Good ole' DM. Good for them. I have not been a big fan recently but this is a staple band in this arena.

I'll still get it. Hope they release it on SACD again.

Personally...I think Depeche Mode would have had a stronger release the last time around with a stronger visual image than "feather man" or whatever that was. I think Violator was the last time I thought "cool artwork".

I agree on the artwork. I wish they would get off that minimal art approach of "leaf" or "water lilly" or "feather man" as you say. They had done this to the gills already and it is time for something more bold and worth looking at over the time that one owns the release.

DM is one of those bands (a short list) that when they release a new album, I just buy it. Admittedly the last couple of albums haven't became my "go to" DM albums, but none the less I'll get the new on as well...

Am I seeing double or are there two of the same post?
Sigh... I gotta lay off the wine.

It would be nice if this next album produced something that persists. All you ever hear from this band on the radio is Enjoy the Silence and Personal Jesus. Except on satellite radio where you may hear something else once in a while. Time for something new and popular and memorable.

Sorry about that - an accident. I am unfortunately unable to edit or delete for some reason.

It's not a problem at all. I deleted that duplicate.
I think the setting is like one hour where you can edit and delete a post and after that it is locked in for the most part.

Any more news on this that anyone has heard?
In a proper audio environment it is a treat to sit down and hear a fresh DM release. Technically there are really cool things happening with the mix there.

They will take their time :) so I would not expect any real news for a while.

That site is saying maybe in November of this year. Nothing definite but a starting point. Maybe this is the cover?
