I have yet to purchase the Pet Shop Boys tribute album. Has anyone else picked it up? If so, do you recommend it?

I'd recommend it for 4 tracks, but the others didn't do much for me. Which tracks? Well, Fictional's version of "Opportunities" is cool, and Sweep's take of "Loves Comes Quickly" is a loyal synthpop cover done well, and Icon of Coil is great with their pounding interpretation of "New York City Boy" (my favorite track on the compilation). There is one other sort of jazzy non-synthpop song that was cool, and the rest were just kind of filler to me. I'm sure other folks disagree. If you're into a more gothic sound, then you probably like the versions by Cruxshadows, Endanger, etc. but for me it seemed weird to hear the PSB done gothic because they seem to be stylistic opposites. On the other hand, sometimes that's what makes a cover version great-- hitting us with something we didn't expect...

Thank you for the word, Todd :-) I'll most likely pick it up it.
