HI!!! Everyone. To be honest I'm very behind with the Synthpop scene,,,Well, anyways I need some tips...How you all can see, I just came back to the world of Synth after I heard for accident a short part of " You din't want me" by an Amazing band called MESH. I was shotttt!!! so then I stared wondering, could any of these Talented underground bands make something similar to what I call one of the best, if not the best Synthpop Allbums ever Depeche Mode's Violator!!! Probably my very favorite electronic music thing so far...
Soooooo!! Anybody out there can tell me about any similar ones???

There'll be times
When my crimes
Will seem almost
Unforgivable!!!!!
I giving to sin !!!
Because you have
to make this life
liveable!!!!

DM's Martin L Gore...

I have a recommendation for you!

Simulator (ak Ross W. Beall) ... it's instrumental music, but it is VERY reminiscent of the Alan Wilder sound, very dark, very electronic, one can almost imagine Dave Gahan's vocals wailing on it.

http://www.mp3.com/simulator

Also, check out my good buddy NukleoN (http://www.nukleon.com) and Intervox (www.mp3.com/intervox) ... included amongst their material are vocal interpretations of Simulator tracks ... and I think they're awesome! In fact, I really like NukleoN's take on Simulator's "Realm" track. This one is very eerie.

Indeed, I would strongly recommend Ross' music! It's brilliant. :) It's very rich and warm, very polished. He's a great friend as well. :)

Dan's music from NukleoN is brilliant as well, another strong recommendation here. :) I love his voice! Another great friend as well, I'm very blessed to have such great friends! :)

And thanks for the recommendation as well, you're very much appreciated! :)

You know Mesh so I don't need to mention them

Also try:

KAJ- In Your Mind- This is a very Violator-esque album

De/Vision- Void- Also similart in style and feel to V.

And on that you may like though it's not Violator sounding:

The Nine- Dreamland - It's easily one of the best albums to come out of the modern synthpop scene.

Those are the ones off the top of my head that may appeal to your very specific taste. However, there are many many excellent albums out there.

Synthpop should be called Music For the Masses

I have pondered this myself years ago. After researching and buying tons of CD's, the top 5 besides Mesh, in my opinion, that best fit the Violator-era parallel are:

Perfidious Words "Hydrogen Skies"
Condition One "Mirror of Liberation"
De/Vision (All Albums) or try "Zhen"
Distain! "Liquid" or "Homesick Alien"
And One "Nordhausen" or "Virgin Superstar"

Also try:
Wolfsheim
Joy Machine
Camouflage

If anyone knows another band that's closer to this type of DM sound than Perfidious Words, please let me/us know. When I first heard the song "Estrangement" at a friends house, I seriously thought DM teamed back up with Alan Wilder!

MaxMode, Perfidious Words is from Germany..their new album should be out this Autumn. They are working hard on completing it, but, admittedly, they are very very slow. In the meantime, pick up their just released reissue debut "Hydrogen Skies" with a ton of extra tracks at www.adifferentdrum.com

You won't regret it...it's ALWAYS in my cd player.

I have to add New Concept - _Wheel of Love_ to that list -- excellent album. Also, must second the opinions on De/Vision and The Nine.

NEW CONCEPT!! Can anybody tell me a littel more about this amazing! band? great! synthpop. The singer or the singers?? cuz I'm kind of confused about the lead singer, if It's one guy then he is one of my top favorite now. This CD "wheel of love" is great!!! the vocals are incredible!!! who ever is a big fan of DM will fall in love with this guys. "Losing" and "Daydream" are two breathtaking! tracks. I was trying to find some imformation about them in their web page but, everything is in german, if anybody can give me some brief information about it, like some of their newest stufs, the singer, best songs, you know stufs like that, I'll will appreciate it very much.

MaxMode, I agree New Concept is incredible. I'd like to hear some more from them.

I would recommend the new cd from Second Sight. It is very good.

Have you heard any of the newer Rad Flag releases? Some people don't like it but you never know. You can get samples from their website.

Also, I think I saw you mention in another post that you spoke spanish. If so, (Or even if you don't) I would recommend Moenia. They sound a lot like DM only in Spanish.

Keep Synthing and Popping.

YES!! MOENIA the Spanish answer to DM, I love them. I have their 3 albums but my favorite is the one called "adiccion", I think their last one could be better but still good. Anyways! now let me try that SECOND SIGHT cd that you said, and yes I speak Spanish. I've been trying to get some stufs from the newest Spanish synth bands around, I heard some of then are really good! but It's kind of hard to find them. So! let me Know In case you Know some other good ones .

Hey:
I love DM Violater too, all down hill from there for them I think. Too bad. Anyway I can't say more about like De/Vision they rule. My room mate has all of their songs on MP# from this CD from Russia. Anyway, check out Melotron, their lead singer even looks like David Gahan. They sing in Deutsch, but man it rules! Later.

If you want a good kinda dark album, Seabound's "No Sleep Demon" will do the trick. It's more of an ebm/synth crossover, but leaning toward synth. The real attraction to this album is the incredible lyrics. These guys know how to write a great song. This CD has been living in my car for two months or so. Well worth the purchase. Check out some clips at www.seabound.de.
