Not really a review, since I don't actually have the thing yet, but I've not seen any mention of it anywhere other than on the Metamatic list, so I thought some details might be appreciated here for those who like Foxx but aren't on that list.

The comp's called _Modern Art_, it's out on 4th June (i.e. tomorrow) and it's on the Music Club budget label. Track listing is as follows:

01. Underpass (single edit) 3'18"
02. No-One Driving (single remix) 3'42"
03. Burning Car (single edit) 3'09"
04. 20th Century 3'02"
05. Miles Away 3'14"
06. Europe After the Rain (single edit) 3'35"
07. Dancing Like a Gun (single edit) 3'43"
08. Endlessly (original single mix) 3'46"
09. Your Dress (single edit) 3'59"
10. Like a Miracle (dj edit) 4'50"
11. Stars on Fire (single edit) 4'52"
12. Enter the Angel (single edit) 3'58"
13. Sunset Rising 2'37"
14. The Noise 4'14"
15. Nightlife 5'47"
16. Shifting City 8'39"
17. My Face 3'21"
18. He's a Liquid (remix) 3'06"

So it's basically a compilation covering all the way from _Metamatic_ through _Shifting City_ and _Cathedral Oceans_, with most of the singles and a smattering of album tracks. However, it looks like it's still a must-have even for the fan who has all the CDs to date, since many of the tracks here are the single edits (which often differed quite considerably from the album versions - the most extreme example is the original single of "Endlessly"). Also includes "Nightlife", which I can't recall right now, the "My Face" track which was previously only on a flexi-disc, the super-extended version of "Shifting City" from the "Subterranean Omnidelic Exotour" disc, etc.

Amazon UK don't seem to have it listed yet for some reason, but various other UK mail order sources like CDParadise and COW have it listed. Price seems very reasonable.

Oh, and just to share a little potential good news, it's hoped that Foxx's first four albums will be re-released on CD in time for a possible London show in September. I'll believe it when I see it (I vaguely recall news of no fewer than nine new releases a year or two ago, none of which ever appeared) but it'd certainly be nice - I'd particularly like to see a remastered, cleaned-up _Metamatic_ without all the hiss that plagues the Virgin CD.

thanks for the information..

i think i will order that one.. i know that hotstuff has it, but until now, had not seen a tracklisting. i am a big john foxx fan, but didn't go on his site much. bad hey? well i have to fix that problem. i have all the cds. i wish they would re-release "in mysterious ways" with some remixes on it. i cleaned up the vinyl ext mixes as best i could, and burned them, but nice to hear good clean ones.
