So my friend and I showed up in the middle of Agnes Poetry's set. They were okay. A new girl in the band. One thing that trouble me when I see Agnes Poetry play (which is about 5 times) is that without fail, they hardly play anything live. I understand that so much production and computers are involved but I think it would be cool if they expressed more of their talent other than just playing one hand and pressing one key every 10 seconds or so. On the few acoustic songs they did, they played beautiful piano, I just feel that it would have been a much better performance had they played more "live." On to Alphaville...

SETLIST:
1)new song [maybe called 'Without Explanation']
2)Carry Your Flag
3)Jerusalem
4)My Heart Belongs To You [?]
5)If The Audience Was Listening
6)Still Falls The Rain [new song]
7)Summer In Berlin
8)New Song
9)Jet Set
10)Monkey In The Moon
11)First Monday in the year 3000 [new song]
12)New
13)Forever Young
ENCORE
14)Say It Aint So Joe
15)Dance With Me

Definately not the set list that I would have chosen but what can ya do? Marian's voice sounded better than the last time they played in Salt Lake. Martin Lister's piano/keyboard skills were absolutely amazing. There was no tape involved which was very impressive. As a whole they sounded awesome. Their first song [new one] was superb as was If The Audience... I would give the overall concert an 8 out of 10. One of my biggest bones to pick with the band is their setlist. 4 times I have seen them and I have never heard anything off of Prostitute or The Breathtaking Blue. This was a big disappointment. Hello Romeos, The Impossible Dream, Faith, Apollo [take it back, they played half of apollo last year], Iron John, The Mysteries of Love, etc. What's the deal with that.

I got the chance to go to the concert last night. I enjoyed it a lot. not too bad. Agnes Poetry was their usual selves, except the accoustic tracks they did were pretty good. nice change. That wasn't a new girl by the way, that was ranita. at least that is what they said on their mailing list they sent out before the show.

The ALphaville portion was great to say the least. I think the venue was a bit lacking for an accoustic show. That is twice now that alphaville has had to perform here in less than great conditions. I look forward to seeing alphaville perform in a nicer venue like abravanel hall or something. imagine marian singing accoustic there. that would be nice.

other than that it looked like marian was having a great time. it looked like he really enjoyed himself. looking forward to the next show.

That was hilarious. Nice ice breaker. What's your opinion on Prostitute and Breathtaking Blue? Why dont they ever play those?

he did play jerusalem last night. personally, prostitute is my favorite album of theirs. breathtaking blue is a close second. this is in contrast to most alphaville fans i have found though. prostitute has all kinds of different sounds to it. such a great album.

I too would DIE to hear a live version of iron john, or something. but hey don't know that i will see that day.

That was awsome! It was the little "intro" that they played right after Marian said, "before we get started, there is something we have to get out of the way."

You can tell he never wants to perform that song live again.

on the agnes poetry mailing list, it said this morning that it was recorded by marian for a possible release in the future. Don't know for sure though.

Hopefully Marian is doing much better without his lame manager KP. That guy was a big time looser. I did business with him in Salt Lake City, UT. during the first Alphaville show in America (which BTW I also have great front-stage video footage of).

I'll have to check around my area to see what it would cost to get it converted to PAL. That's the format you'd want, correct? I filmed the master on Sony Digital and I know that it's going to be expensive to have it copied since not a lot of people use the Sony DVCam format. If you're interested though, I'll check into it.

Yes, I would need the PAL format....But if it is too expensive and a problem..it is ok mate...Or I can offer to pay for shipping and handling or whatever
