I know there are a lot of Spanish singing synthpop fans here so I thought I'd notify you of some things and keep the scene going.

1.
Moenia is releasing a new CD soon and has a snipet of their new single on their other website of http://www.moenia.org and quite like it. The full track is even better than the sample. It is called Molde perfecto. I really like this group, the lead singer's voice is incredible. It may even be enjoyable if you don't understand spanish, I don't know. I look forward to this release.

2.
Desvio is scheduled to release their full CD around June. They had problems with their previous label and now have are with a new one. You may remember their single "En mis brazos". They also have some other samples on their website of http://www.desvioweb.com I look forward to their full release also.

I seem to enjoy spanish language synthpop as well as I do in english (but not cumbia, sorry) so if you have other recommendations for me let me know. I do already have OBK, Cetu Javu, Soda Stereo, Virus, Los prisioneros, Miguel Mateos, Los enanitos verdes(not synthpop), and I've heard Estatuas del sol.

I agree, I think Moenia are incredible and I don't understand Spanish for the most part. The lead singer has an amazing voice similiar to Dave Gahan. I am really looking forward to new material from them, Adicion has been in my CD player non-stop for over a year now. I just think the production of Moenia is fantastic and separates them from other synthpop bands.

Sorry about that, I got it backwards. This is their other site that has the snipet. I am unaware of which they are actually promoting. I think I happenned upon this site by trying the possible web addresses.

Have you heard anything about KLOCKWORK? Try with our first album "Collage".
We are working in new stuff that will be released in two months (we hope so!)

Hi to everybody in the new forum!

Though the Klockwork album is cool for sure, and the band IS from Spain, I think they were talking about bands that sing in Spanish :-) You guys sing in English.

Hey Paulsynthpop,

I love all of those groups you mentioned. However, there is one group that surpasses all of them in my mind. Have you heard La Ley? Absolutely the best latin pop/rock/synth/electronic there is out there in my mind. Their new album 'Uno' is amazing as is the album 'Invisible'

Check them out if you get a chance. Viva Chile!!!

Jacob:

Thank you for the advice on the group. My brother-in-law would be very happy to hear La Ley mentioned here. He especially likes them. I have heard them and tried to like them, I guess they are not synthy enough for me and maybe a little too much latin rock. My tastes tend to be very specific. Some other groups that in my opinion fall into that same category that sing in Spanish are Sentimiento Muerto (Venezuela), Aparato Raro (Chile), Mecano (Spain)(although they did go through a delightful synth phase and I do like them), Mana (Mexico)and many other solo artists.

I think to know Spanish or German as a synthpop fan gives you a whole bunch more stuff to listen to...that you understand.

Let me know if you hear of anything else I might like, You never know...

Few months ago I started a list of non-english/german synth bands, focusing on Spain and Latin America.
Moenia is obviously one of the best and most succesful projects- I recommend checking out their new single
"Lado animal" in the Amores Perros soundtrack. As for South America, Im sure there are new and innovative projects on the make, but now that LaLey has been mentioned (their first two CD's Doble Opuesto and Invisible made them the chilean version of "Talk Talk"), they have sell-out their style and music... they are on the commercial path. One chilean band worth checking out is Lucybel and of course the early works of "Los prisioneros". For those who are interested, one of the best bands I 've come across is "URBE". You can find some Mp3's at mp3.com . Their "Mundos de Silencio" is one of my favorites so far this year. Check them out they're pure electronic joy.

Thank you for the suggestion, I have not been able to find anything by Urbe on Napster or otherwise. Maybe you could share some with me? Let me know.

Also, Moenia released a track on a tribute album (I believe). The song is called "Volcan" and is also up to their high standard. I have been listening to "Lado Animal" from the Amores Perros soundtrack for about 6 months now. I have yet to tire of it...

Hasta el próximo momento...

I heard Urbe for the first time from an MP3 that a friend sent me, then got "Mundos de Silencio" from Mp3.com. Try that and if it doesn't work let me know. Forgot to mention another band that is worth a try .... ERRA.

I´ve never heard any Spanish synthpop band.
Are they as good as the english and german ones?

Whether they are "as good as the english and the german ones" is really up to each person that listens to them.

In my opinion they are, yes.

Aville:
I would recommend you start with some Cetu Javu. They are a German band that sings in both english and spanish. Check out the spanish tracks and see if you like hearing that language. If you've already heard Cetu Javu then you can ignore this, of course. If you do like that sound then try some OBK or Moenia. You can find some samples on the internet and then buy the CD's if you like them.

Synthpop forever,

Paul

I've been really into the Spanish synth scene a lot lately, as well. Besides Moenia, Desvio and of course, OBK (can't stop hitting the repeat button on "A Ciegas"), I whole-heartedly recommend my friends in "Estatuas De Sol." Their music is so well produced and catchy that the language barrier makes no difference. They just keep getting better and better....

Remember the first time you guys heard Melotron's "Moderwerk" album? That's how many of the Spanish bands are striking me: clever and original programming values intertwined with smooth, charismatic vocals. It'd be nice to see more of the smaller acts signed and distributed in the U.S. and Europe without all the difficulties.

HI, I'm a new member I was reading the past messages about spanish synthpop Here I put a list of spanish synth bands from my collection that maybe hard or not well known.

Santuario: A band from the 90's that sound like Cetu Javu.

Ninos Del Brasil: this is another cool band perhaps might sound like spanish rock but... they sound like secession or new order to put it this way just imagine the singer from "heroes del silencio" singing in the same style of new order or secession??? that's how they sound the singer has a deep voice.

La Faena: another great band from south america or mexico?? well they sound like Pet Shop Boys or New Order

Qun Qun: Another band from the early 90's very erasure style.

Fangoria: Female Vocals like new order style

Carlos Berlanga: Very Erasure Style.

Francesc Picas: Very Modern Talking

Berlin(Not the Singer) This another great band very similar to OMD Or DM from spain.

Alaska Y Dinarama: This is probably one of the first electronic bands from spain from the early 80's.

Aviador: The Spanish kraftwerk

Morbo: Ex moenia singer still with some electronic style.

Desvio: everyone knows this band checkout their official Club at www.yahoo.com/clubs just do a search

Segunda Fundacion: This A great band from spain very Mode or camouflage but their stuff is ultra rare to find

About los prisioneros mmmm.... they had some synthesized songs but they were more like spanish rock

a good chilean synth band I think there's 2 bands in chile one is psyco and other one is "Jardin Secreto"

And from mexico I think there's artefakto,ele.ele.te,sentidos opuestos etc.. don't remember the other bands

But Hey if you know any new spanish synth band let me know.

Hi,

I just bought the new moenia cd "le Modulor" in my won words I have to say the moenia is getting more mature on their lyrics as for the sound is very electronic I can probably describe the cd as the mexican Wolfsheim "spectators" from Mexico but please correct me If I'm wrong :-).

See Yaaaaaaaaaa.

I purchased the new cd from Moenia call "Le Modulor" on Saturday and it hasn't left my cd player. It is extremely good. A direct progression from their past two releases with more catchy tunes and heart-felt lyrics. It comes in an odd shield-shaped plastic case that may make it a little difficult to find in some places and easier in others. It also has some "flash" programming and QT footage of them in concert, of course this succeeded in freaking out one of my computers...

Now I can await tranquilmente the upcoming (hopefully) release from Desvio.

Go buy this! You won't be disappointed if you lie their previous stuff.

Paul;)
