Fans of industrial music rejoice. One of the pioneering industrial bands of all time has released a DVD set with loads of performance footage. This is bad ass. If you had not heard them before you should check them.

TG is a pioneer group no doubt.
But don't forget Nurse with Wound :) in the same vein, yes? Thanks for the item.

Ah, there are so many great bands from back in the day; granted they weren't (and probably still arn't) for everybody's ears. Bands like Monte Cazazza, NON, Halfer Trio, Swans, Whitehouse, SPK, Dome and of course Neubauten; it was a wonderful, wonderful time of sonic exploration, really pushing the boundaries of what one considers music. Really paved the way for so many more great bands after them, Coil to name but one.

One of my favorite CD/DVD sets was "The Tyranny of the Beat" which featured videos by many of those artists. Hard to come by these days though.

Oh my god, what was that? I listened to the tracks on their myspace-site, that can't be right...right?

Sounds right to me. Sounds like Throbbing Gristle. Like I said, they're not for everyones ears. Tastes vary. Even I can only take them in limited amounts. I found it quite odd that someone was posting about them on EGN; no offense, it's just not known to have people frequent it that like things on the "noise" side of the spectrum.

And EGN is what? Sorry if I am missing something or posted out of place.

Historically speaking it's always been more of a forum of the softer side of the keyboard. But hey, I'm all for everything.

Actually, I meant what is EGN? I did not know what you were talking about, but I guess you are talking about this forum and this website and I did not put two and two together.

I do not know the history of this forum but it does not look like it has been around too long with the first post being less than 2 months ago or so.

Either way it's cool. I'll try and keep an ear out for what is in phase (so to speak).

TG is not for everyone to be sure, but for those in the know on where influences have been drawn from in the industrial space TG is in the whos's who list. I think most people find more of the boundary stretch artists like Skinny Puppy more palatable. While having many aspects of the pure industrial roots in their music they also include more of the common western elements such as stable rhythms and melodics.

Yeah, what you said. I can only palate a select number of TG songs, mostly I was never a huge fan of Genesis P. (did you know he wrote his own interpretation of the Bible?). I leaned more towards the bands I mentioned above, of the same time (more or less). Lately I read the best quote about the difference between new and old "industrial"...

"Modern Industrial is so often just posh rock with knobs on it’s dull bordering on terminal, whereas old Industrial at least stood at a new frontier, gazing forward with a determined sense of glee"

I'm not saying I agree 100% with this persons sentiment, but I agree there is a certain important element missing from most modern "industrial"; a term might I add that I think should be retired as there are no more true "industrial" acts out there (not as the term "industrial music" was originally created for).

I hope you are still around.

Sounded like you knew about this type of music and I was hoping to get more info.
BTW. I did not really know what EGN was either for a while although I kept seeing it mentioned around here.

So if you subscribed to this thread and get an email that there was a post here. Come back and post something!
