There are a few US based festival type events that happen annually, but none that I'm aware of that cater primarily to synthpop (really no money in it). There is the Blacksun Festival in New Haven, CT that happens on March 14th-16th; so far their line up is: Assemblage 23, Attrition, The Azoic, Cesium 137, Ego Likeness, Hungry Lucy, Iris, Seabound and Zombie Girl. They say they'll be adding more. In June, 8th-10th, in Salt Lake City, Utah, there's the Dark Arts Festival. Last year they had bands such as Red Flag, The Strand, Machinegun Symphony, Mortal Clay and us, Cylab. Later in the year, in August, though it's moving to a April or May date in 2008, is Nightmare Before Bats Day/Bats Day. Their last line up had the artists Android Lust, Creature Feature, God Module, Legion Within, The Skys Gone Out and The Myriad Form.

I'm sure there are a few others, but I can't think of them right now...but the three above really cover a broad spectrum of genres.

D'oh! The link to Nightmare Before Bats Day/Bats Day should of course be: http://www.batsday.net.

Yes it is good to know the festivals, but we now also have a good chance of spotting who is a goth and and who is a rivethead at these shows, yes?

We should get a statistically significant sample of both, methinks. If you wanted to write a computer program, that'd be the place to test it.

I.E. If lace --> goth
If latex --> rivethead
If leather --> continue
etc.

I heard of some a few years ago but i think that they failed to bring enough people or money or something and never were brought back.

Both "Synthpop Goes The World" and "SynthCon" lost considerable amounts of money and were pretty much scrapped. I think Todd from A Different Drum still does the one off odd event/festival. Best place to look is on the ADD website.

I think that the ADD fest was also cancelled, at least this year. I saw this on the site not too long ago.

That's sad if true. Todd is pretty much the last one that I can think of that's still trying to wave that Synthpop banner. It's tough and I admire what he does.
