After reading about how everyone here is pretty much attached to a PC monitor most of the day I am not sure that this is even a feasible thread, but if you're reading or read something recently feel free to share it. Unfortunately I have to do so much technical reading at work I have not read anything recreationally for a long time.
Too long to mention probably :). Anybody else?

I don't read nearly as much as I should or as much as my Wife would like. Usually I try to read things that inspire or have something to say or teach. The last book that I read, that I feel that should be mandatory reading in schools is "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman, or even his follow up to that "The Journeys of Socrates" ~ both of which are based on true events; which make them even more special. Though most recently I read, and it's been out forever, "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman...great book.

I read voraciously -- currently going through Christopher Moore's oeuvre -- A Dirty Job being the last one I finished -- great fun, probably a laugh every other page or so.
I've also got a stack from a friend of that whole Laurell K. Hamilton, Vicki Petterson, Karen Chance et al type stuff (female lead, supernatural, untapped abilities, intrigue, etc.).
Favourite authors include Clive Barker, Neal Stephenson, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Roger Zelazny (although admittedly, that's from back when I was an adolescent -- not sure if it ages well).

Christopher Moore is great. I laughed all the way through, "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal". It's one of my favorite books to make people read.

I don't have time to read, too much to do in school and life. But my favourite author is Paulo Coelho. His books made me see life differently. (He wrote The Alchemist among other [much better] books).
