Looking to start

Hi guys, I know how much a a newb I'm going to sound like here so bear with me.

I've been interesting in doing some sort of electronic music for a long time now (been mostly a heavy metal singer most my life) and just recently started fiddling around with a lot of software on my computer.

I'm just wondering what would be your best advice to a newb like me wanting to start making music of this genre, like what equipment I should get, anything I should know, what I should research. Anything at this point would be better then what I got now. Hope for some sort of help.

That you feel comfortable working with.

Then.

Make shit you think sounds cool.
