View Full Version : New TV low?
~Crash

On Monday, here in the UK, Channel 4 are starting a week long series called 'Going Cold Turkey'. Rather than being a week of documentaries about heroin addiction or detox it is essentialy just Big Brother with smack addicts.
Junkys locked in a house under cameras 24 hours a day!
I can't decide if this is a new low for car-crash television or TV genius!
As much as we all enjoy a laugh at other peoples misfortune I don't know how funny a bunch of feaverous addicts pukeing and shitting themeslves will be.
Will we, the viewer, get to vote out the least entertaining smack additct?

hmmm... odd spin on reality TV ... networks seem to be running out of reality ideas, lol.
i could see that reality show being shown as part of an anti-drug campaign, otherwise you are right... definite car crash... who would want to see it: but i'd have to look

Um, what Jag said. I'd pass on this one, but I don't watch reality TV as a general rule anyway. The Jerry Springer show-type and/or sleazy antics they get the participants into on these shows just turns me off.

I'm not really into sleazy tv. For one, it's not even really sleazy, just sort of pathetic. If I want sleaze, I just download it from the internet (now that's quality sleaze!). Plus, I get bored of the same plot over and over: like watching people eat disgusting things every single week. Mix it up a bit, ya know?

Wow, they really show anything on tv these days for ratings... I'm sorry but I think thats kind of mean. Anyone who has to detox from a very serious drug like that, who already had to go through lots of humiliation doesn't need the added benefit of thier demons being televised...

All this show ill do is amake channel4 money the production company and the tabloid press money but end up with a bunch of individuals not knowing if their coming or going....
I dont rally watch my TV no more. Im fed up with the lies the brainwashing crap and BBC Doublethink. Channel 4 is becoming like ITVCHav for the braindead...

I must be one of the rare ones who doesn't have that problem. Must be something with them reconfiguring the site? I wonder if the IM system is working too, because I couldn't PM someone else here due to their mailbox being "full" so IM'd them, but haven't heard back.

But think about it Anna, they could be getting paid for this...And we could get the next Amorosa...I mean, that dumb waste of human life got booted off of her show, and she's making the rounds everywhere these days... *LOL*
If anything, they could take the money they make from the heavy detox and score another hit ;)
I'm so going to hell now

ya know.... I am just so done with reality TV... (never thought it was a good idea anyways)
I want escapism.
ESCAPISM.
I don't want characters that have lives I can relate with. I get that from picking up the signal on our neighbor's baby monitor :)

Well, we could do the Neverland Ranch idea and stick a young person in there and let them try and escape...oh wait, that's escapology!

I'm in favor of CSPAN with subtitles. The subtitles would succinctly interpret the endless blather of political leaders.

I heard Queen wants to start adding Tv taxes when you purchase a new computer and offer TV downloads to all the Brit IPs, so you have an option of paying tube taxes on the tv or computer. Is this true?

LOL ok _that's_ funny. Too bad that freak doesn't live there anymore but like 10 yrs ago, you would have been a gazillionaire with that idea.

Has he had to sell?
Does he live in a bunker now? That'd be better...'Escape from Jacko's Bunker!'

LOL
I think because of all the crap that went on in this last trial of his... he now lives in Bahrain. The news reports said that he'd probably have to close it down, and now with him being in a pay dispute after his staff at Neverland ranch (cos he hasn't been paying their wages) I cant see why or how he'd be able to still live there.
