fun friday should be a tradition!

a couple of girls at the office were doing 'fun friday' for a while; it was a themed ordeal (ie sponge bob, the beach, baseball) the kids would decorate their cubicles to the extreme ... eh it wasn't horrible, but i just couldn't get into all that decorating every week.

Speaking of Cowboys, anyone catch John Lydon on the Jimmy Kimmel show?

Apparently, the Sex Pistols were nominated to The Rock and Roll hall of Fame, they promptly declined the nod... but in meantime, Rolling Stone magazine were supposed to do a cover feature on John Lydon... because the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thing was a wash, they used Heath Ledger on the cover of RS instead. John Lydon quickly pulled this tee shirt out of his bag and said something like "gay cowboys? been there done that" and showed the shirt to the camera: I totally remembered seeing that also because John Taylor had the same shirt too. heres the link to it:

Why would they want to translate the original movie into Chinese and then translate it back into English? I know labor is cheap in the East, but still, couldn't they just watch the original? :eek:

Probably because it's for an Asian market but there are LOTS of Brits in Hong Kong. And the Chinese bootleg DVD market is huge and worldwide and lives on eBay :)...or something.

Yeah it does...I paid 30 bucks a piece for a couple of dvd's about four years ago thinking that it would be the only way I'd ever get these movies on DVD...I mean, why would a couple of small time 80's indie flicks be released on DVD right???

Heh wrong...It may have taken four years, but no they're both on DVD and selling for about 10 bucks each...Yeah I'm a victim of the JDM bootleg industry...

The Chinese menu thing illustrates exactly why we should attempt to learn foreign languages, rather than depend on dodgy translations. (I majored in Spanish and French in college myself, and I'm trying to learn Korean.)
