Craig & Meg's blissful event has sparked a curious question for me: how or where did your significant other meet?
Well, my wife and I met at Disneyland of all places, lol. ;)

Ha! Mrs Jupiter and I met at a research institute. She was an undergrad and I was a bright eyed, eager young grad student. She hated me when we first met, and cut me down a few notches before we started getting on well. When we first went out, she tried to set me up with the barmaid, waitress, her friends, &c.
I told her that she was a slow study...that it was her I was after. from then on, bloody paradise.

Mrs. Jetjaguar15 (or Mrs. Baker, depending on how well you know us :) ) and I met in a College Cafeteria.. we were both working. It was her first night to work the burger line, and I was the 2 year vet. of Cafeteria work...

I see, Jet, the casting couch, huh? "If you want to get anywhere in this Burger business, you'd better think of a future with me!"
Where did you meet Mrs Voxy, Vox? Were you both employees, or sitting athwartships on the Pirates of the Carribean?

My bst friend and I met on the internet. I was in a chat room and was being made fun of, and she jumped in and helped me. it was funny. I've slowly fallen in love with her. She lives 2089.43 miles away, tho... and yes, that's the exact distance.

I'll keep a long story short....
I met the love of my life in 1985 (highschool) stayed in touch through the years, and ended up getting married in 1996.

My partner and I met through a newspaper personals ad that I placed. The funny thing was that I got like 15 responses. I called the first two and was totally turned off so I tossed the list aside. It wasn't until 3 wks later that I ran accross the list again. I glanced at the responses again and decided to call my partner. As soon as we spoke it was like magic. We met that weekend at a Houlihans and the rest is history. :)

Plus, I also responded to Sneaky's advert as well. But he was a bit of a nutter, so you were next on the list!

Well, I was dating her friend at the time, and a group of us went to Disneyland on a Saturday night. We just met and became good friends at first nothing more, although I thought Elizabeth was a complete knockout (I still do, of course!).
Then my girlfriend eventually turned into a complete psycho and we broke up. Elizabeth and I remained friends, but lost touch for about a year. After about a year, I call a mutual friend of hers just to say hello, long time no talk, etc. And the mutual friend tells Elizabeth I called, Elizabeth asks her for my number and then calls me. It's like we never lost touch, so we just decide to go hang out at the beach on a Saturday night, and the rest is history...
I'm sure I've bored everyone to tears now, lol. :)

Ok, now Im confused. I thought polar was a guy. No? Wasn't he/she nominated as "El Mas Macho"? I think it's time for some of the new EGNrs to post on the "Monitor, Monitor" Thread.

Met my wife through my ex-girlfriend. We dated for three years before we were married. A few years back she was showing me some of her elementary school pictures. When we got to her kindergarten class photo, it turned out that I was in the row right above her in the picture. We were amazed!!! We also went to high school together, but we didn't know each other there. My graduating class had almost 1000 people in it.
Polar: Are you sure you aren't going to meet "THE GIMP" for lunch??? :D

Nothing too exciting here;
I just went over and started talking to him one night at this industrial / goth / alternative nightclub. We exchanged info - Then (in his version of the story) he said i stalked him for a week, which isnt' really true, I only called a few times and a couple of emails (oh wait, does camping out in front of his apt count?) KIDDING!
I met up with him again the next week at the club again and asked him out on a date :D thankfully he agreed.

I met my wife/love o' my life at an 80's/goth club caled "Emerald City" in Pacific Beach, San Diego. I told MODyssey how much I wanted to meet that cutie with the black bob and patent leather clothes, and I eventually, on Halloween night in 1996, got her digits, two kids and a house later, the rest is history (btw, I am still totally ga-ga mad in love with this woman!)

Met my girlfriend while attending a Audio/Video convention. She was one of the models hired by some manufacturer, to lure you into checking out their product. Didn't really like the product, but adore the girl!!!! Not sure of the exact mileage difference between us, but I believe it to be about 2200 - 2400 miles. She lives in Indiana and I in California. Just got home today from a visit!!! I miss her already...

2. Jup -- I couldn't mail you either. You have to get rid of the older items in your mailbox too. Show the ones from WAYYYYYYY back when by clicking the pull-down window and choosing - show posts from "the beginning". You will have to delete a BUNCH, dearie. :)

Let's see if I can recount the story correctly here. I met my wife at Congress Hotel coffee shop in Tucson. She was with her friend/roomate Coby, and I was with my friend Carrie who was interested in Coby. Turns out, Michelle liked me and I had no idea. Got the picture though when she asked if I was gay. hahaha. (READ OTHER THREAD FOR THAT STORY). Anyway, I didn't see her again for a few months, when all of a sudden, she started working at the same independant record store as I did (Zia Records - Think "Empire Records"). Well, at the time I was seeing someone, but after spending some time with Michelle, I knew I was seeing the wrong person. MIchelle was (eerr, is) AWESOME! So, broke off my long distance relationship (yeah, I know, ...that sucks,....but in retrospect,...it wasn't much of a relationship), and started dating Michelle. That was back in '97....and we're still together, married, and with a wonderful son. :) That's my story. I'm sure she has a slightly different version of it, but I doubt she'll read this thread. hehehe

Swank,
it started out simple in the chatroom .. then it moved to instant messenger then phone calls then making plans for me to goto the Philippines .... u must realize i have never been on a plane and talk about killing a fear to fly ... 19 hours ... wowwie ..... i was so nervous ... i spent only 3 weeks there and of course we fell even more in love ... then came the hardest part .... being away from my wife and son for 10 months while all of the paperwork went through ... talk about torture ... but our love is true and so very strong .. as the crow would say .. real love is forever ... now we are all together and happy and now working on getting her adjustment of status to be a US citizen which can take years .... i am proof that a long distant relationship can work but it must be true love ... if u want more details feel free to IM me Swank :)

wow that is really great Ashe.
it's nice to see that some long distance relationships can really work out. i tried one once (nj to az) but it didn't last long, plus i was really young (20).
Good for you guys! best of luck with the citizen paperwork... i know a couple from south africa who were married there and then came here later for job reasons. it took them a really long time to get thier citizenship as well - i know it can be quite a taxing process.

I met my love as others have here.. online. I IMed him to ask him about a Depeche Mode concert and from there he became my best friend. Then when summer came I invited him to come to Sacramento, as he was in Los Angeles. He had never been so far north in California, so I spent a week showing him places like San Francisco, Tahoe, etc. It was an awesome week and once it was over we both realized we really loved each other and we decided to be together. This December we have known each other 6 years and this coming July (2004) will be our 5th anniversary. :)

Oh Love.
I've yet to experience Luv. I once thought I was in love until she cheated on me and it transformed into hate. From then on I'd rather just be alone then feel like such a moron once again. For the trust for any woman to be my lover is gone. Women like me for the wrong reasons and I can't help but feel disgusted. Until Ashley Judd agrees to divorce her short husband and come to my arms, then will I admit Im in love.
Or Adriana Lima. oooooohhhhhh shes droolfully sexy.
Love. It's over-rated if you ask my imaginary friend Clint.

i was in love once, but i only got into the relationship because i wanted to know what it would feel like. i did like the other person, and they were interesting and all, but really it was an experiment: i knew that over time a veil of dellusion would be drawn before my eyes, and the result would be misplaced emotions, rage, love, hate, all sorts of irrationall thinking...and finally when i ended it after 3 longs years, i had the experience of crying my eyes out. the kinda catharthic release of of stinging emeotions and regret. it was great. in fact sometimes i miss crying like that: where the tears just stream profusely from your eyes like some emotional ejaculate...and in the end...i felt and found a new found freedom and enlighment enlightenment...
and thats what love is for me...transient and completely temporeal...and maybe their is "true everlasting love" but im not gonna go searching for it...ill only accept it if it comes my way...
~Tal`liyne

I have yet to indulge in the fruit of love...only the sting of disappointment lingers in my mouth and mind!
Many search their whole lives to find the other half of their soulmate lost long ago, only to pine away in utter abandonment!
Others believe they have been reunited, only to be disillusioned by the sharp blade of reality!
Still others convince themselves of things that are not and will not come to be.
In the end, there are few who will ever taste of true bliss unbinded.
Yet....we still serach...

i never pass up an opportunity to talk about my hubby:
it was 1986 and i was preparing for a date with his best friend; i was rather nervous and thought things would go better if i brought my girlfriend (hey i had just turned 17). so i asked Tony if he could bring a friend for her. Who would have guessd he was bringing my future husband and father of my children. We went out laughed, drank cheap wine and talked. By 11 pm Tony gave me a small kiss and off they went. My girlfriend fell head over heals for Mark (my hubby) but she didn't have the nerve to call him up. So i got the number and called for her. She wanted me to ask if he liked her and even more, if he would go to prom with her.
His response was one that was very difficult to share with her. But in the meantime he and i talked on several occasions and for hours on end. Six months went by when Mark confessed to Tony that we had been talking and asked him if he minded Mark asking me out. Since i hadn't really talked to Tony since our "date" he gave his permission.
By 17 i was soooo sick of guys who asked me out, only to take me to the movies and try to cop a feel. So i declined the first invite. I also declined the 2nd. By the 3rd invite, i decided after twice being rejected he must really like me; so out we went.
April 1st 1987 we went out for the 1st time ... returning to my apartment as soon as i stepped in the door, my girlfriend said "you are in love". 1 date and it was written all over my face.
We have been together every since: going on 17 years. He is the most incredible person i've ever met and it has been amazing growing up with him and experiencing this roller coaster of life together.
