While listening to "One Step Ahead of the Spider" this morning, it dawned on me that this album came out nine years ago. Which then lead me to wonder, what ever happened to MC 900 FT Jesus?

Speaking of Jesus, eh? Jesus Jones are still around. Matter of fact they're going to be playing the Sonicmania festival in Japan early next year, which will coincide with the release of a new EP.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of MC 900 Ft Jesus myself. I still listen to his stuff a lot.
MC 900 Ft Jesus, just didn't fit in to any genre, he wasn't exactly rap or industrial.
I would welcome a new album!

I wouldn`t say that MC 900 Ft Jesus was completely genreless. There were a couple of other rap/industrial crossoverbands around at the time. I would easily compare them to Meat Beat Manifesto and Consolidated of the same era. The swedish outfit Cultivated Bimbo also released an album in the same style.

Whatever happened to Book of Love? I remember seeing them open for Depeche on the Black Celebration tour and they had a couple of albums afterwards, but where are they now?

ah .. Book Of Love recently did a tour (yes believe it or not) Having been a crazy fan from the days, i ran over old ladies to get to the Houston show. Sadly they played a very small venue, a Club not even geared for Live Performances. Trust me, be glad they aren't out and making another album. Enjoy the old stuff, treasure your like of thier old music. Because after the show last year, I can't stand to even hear the old songs. At the show they played the commercial, I touch roses, Boy and the like and butchered them to the point of ear piercing agony.
Here's a snippet from my review of the concert:
The one solid performance was Ted Ottaviano. While Susan seemed to tired to muster believable enthusiasm, Lauren just couldn't get into it and Jade Lee was totally absent ... Ted; well Ted was jammin! His keyboard sounds and manipulation were the only thing you could enjoy. (And the sound guy tried his best to ruin that.)
It was rumored in the ladies room that Ted was thinking of going solo: Excellent Idea! Post show: Ted went to greet DJ Mike Snow, passing thru the crowd with a presence that could sell in today's music market. I can see the money spending music maniac's diggin' him
{end snippet}
Treasure the old sounds of BOL because the Book has shut on the girls talents.

Wow, that is kinda heartbreaking news about the band, well I sure will treasure the now-considered "oldies" and hope Ted flys solo, he'll do well I think!

I miss Book of Love! All of it! There was a compilation a couple of years ago with two new songs. I wore the ¤¤¤¤¤ out of that disc! :)

You know, the girl and I saw that for the first time the other night. She turned to me and said, "Isn't that that song by Jesus Jones". I turned an ear to the tele and low and behold, it was. Strongly b4st4rdized yes, but definately the same song. What the Hell?! K-Mart? Shame on you, Mike Edwards. What's next? EMF for Pic 'n Save, oh excuse me, Big Lots.

Possibly interesting fact: Duran Duran have been hounded for years by Burger King for the usage of Hungry Like The Wolf...thankfully, they haven't caved yet, they actually laugh about it. Hopefully they will keep laughing...

Wow, that just brought me back!! I distinctly remember buying MC 900 Ft Jesus & the Consolidated on the same day and interchanging them for at least a month. Are the Consolidated still around?? A.R.E. Weapons and LCD Soundsystem from this year remind me a bit of them.

I really think A.R.E. Weapons sound more like a Suicide clone, at least the early stuff. The album was rather disappointing compared to the brilliant EPs. The had toned down the "synth" elements on the album, which I found extremly dissapointing. The other bands in the genre who mixes in rap sounds more like early eighties hiphop. What I miss is the rap/industrial crossover.
Die Warzau also used som hiphop elements on their classic "Disco rigido" album. But then, the NIN/Ministry clones took over and terrorized the scene for almost half a decade.
