Hello. Synthpop is not dead!

Hi everyone,

I'm ERIC31. Synthpop fan and sort of synthpop "artist" (in the loosest sense of the word!).

I've been a fan of synthpop since like 1981 when I first heard Kraftwerk, and the Human League. Big fan of the 80's Depeche Mode and saw them on M.F.T.M and Violator tour. (Fantastic nights out I'll never forget!!) I'm very partial to groups that sound like they came from 1985...like S.P.O.C.K, Elegant Machinery, Neuropa, Cosmicity. I guess I'm a purist in a way. Not much of a fan of industrial style or electronic music with metal guitars! That's fine though. Plenty of groups for everyone to get into regardless of style.

I like messing around with synths and making funny sounds. I have a very old beat up Yamaha DX-21 and an old Roland MT-32 module that I tinker with from time to time. I'll probably upgrade to a "real" synth sometime in the future.

Welcome back ERIC31 ... longtime no see! Glad to see you're still carrying the synthpop torch. I still have my boards, but have been messing about with softsynths as of late, plus a nifty new program called Renoise. It's like those old Amiga tracker programs, except that it uses MIDI and softsynths. Soon as I have this sussed out, I will utilize it in my music making endeavours!
